Job Description:
Note:
• Needs to be proficient in CAD. CATIA, NX, and/or CREO - need to be able to function autonomously, layout of systems.
• MUST have GD&T from drawings
• Seeking automotive experience, electrification and early type prototypes, not production drawings. Early up front prototype and proof of concept. Basic understanding of all automotive systems. Suspension, chassis, electronics, cooling systems. Class 6 (or 3-8) truck experience.
• Candidates that don't work well: candidates that are too specialized, working only one aspect of vehicles like those from big 3 automotive.

OVERVIEW:
Mechanical Designers must work closely with a small team of Engineers and Manufacturing to produce three-dimensional models and technical drawings of mechanical components. This position requires the ability to create parametric models and technical drawings.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & SKILLS:
Typical responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
• Use CAD system to create 3D parametric models of components
• Maintain and report on clearances for stationary and moving parts
• Basic understanding of prototype and production manufacturing methods
• Ability to create Technical drawings utilizing GD&T
• Understand geometric dimensioning and Tolerancing (ASME Y14.5)
• Familiarity with working in large assembly models
• Basic understanding of Vehicle and Product System Design & Development
• Ability to interface with other departments to accomplish tasks
• Ability to use Windows based computers (email, general software, MS Excel, etc.)
• Ability to communicate professionally, both verbally and in writing
• Able to perform in a dynamic and fast paced environment
• Maintain a clean and organized work area
• Work safely to comply with all business expectations

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION/YEARS OF EXPERIENCE:
• High School Diploma
• Associates Degree in Mechanical Design or equivalent experience
• Minimum of 3 years of experience working in CAD system
• Experience in the creation and detailing of technical drawings

DESIRED SPECIALIZED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
• 5 + years of experience working in CAD system
• Experience in CATIA is a must
• Understanding of Windchill PDM System

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
• Working primarily in an office environment
• Occasionally work with manufacturing (support)

EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:
• 8am-4pm core (minimum) work hours (typically 45hrs per week average)
• Project surge support and additional effort as needed to achieve deadlines

This position will require lawful access to ITAR/EAR controlled information and employees in this role will need to meet those requirements. Requirements include US Citizenship, US Permanent Resident or ability to meet licensure requirements.
