Senior Electrical Systems Engineer

Description:
Primary engineering activities will be to provide the engineering design for HLW electrical systems and equipment for the entire facility in preparation for procurement and construction.

Responsibilities
• This work includes the extensive use of ETAP and may include use of SETROUTE, BlockDraw for the HLW design.
• Individual must have extensive understanding of all engineering discipline drawings and electrical discipline wiring diagrams, control logic diagrams, system descriptions, system calculations, 1-line and 3-line drawings, schematics, electrical equipment layout and be able to size equipment and perform cable sizing calculations.
• Performs special tasks and calculations/studies.
• Conducts checking as required.
• Properly interprets and applies codes & standards and customer design requirements, for applicability to electrical design documents, specifications, material requisitions and system descriptions related to design tasks.
• Ability to cope with conflicting deadline, frequent interruptions and multiple tasks.
• Must be a self-starter and capable of independent creative design, with direction and industry proven concepts, and procedures.
• Must work well with others, other disciplines, and groups. Must have experience with an electronic Cable Management System, such as the SETROUTE program, and be able to input and complete corrections to the data base.
• Must be able to effectively communicate and work well with others and within a team.
• Must be able to work well with other disciplines.

Qualifications
• BS degree in Mechanical, Nuclear, or Chemical Engineering from an accredited university or college with 3 - 13 years of progressive related experience. Related experience includes, but is not limited to, experience in Piping and Instrument Diagram (P&ID) development fluid system design, hydraulic, heat transfer, and thermodynamic calculations, and equipment specification and design development for waste processing, nuclear, refinery, power, or chemical process facilities.




Minimum Qualifications
• Experience in working with procedures meeting quality assurance programs such as ASME-NQA-1, MIL-Q-9858A, or ISO-9000.
• Knowledge of Bechtel corporate, industry and regulatory guides, codes, and standards.
• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).

Preferred Qualifications
• Professional registration in Mechanical, Nuclear, or Chemical Engineering.
• Experience in fluid system design in a DOE or commercial nuclear facilities.
