PAY RATE: $80.00 - $100.00 per hour.

We at The Structures Company have an opportunity for you as a Aeroelasticity Engineer located in Tustin, CA. Below you will find the job description for this role, as well as all the mandatory/preferred skills, and a list of perks for that specific location!

We are seeking a seasoned engineer with experience in flutter, aerodynamics, and structures. The candidate will also support flight test planning, mission control preparation, flight test data reduction, and model evaluation for flight test and vehicle envelope expansion. The candidate will build on an intimate knowledge of all aircraft systems, have the ability to support current programs and extend our tools to conduct trade studies for new project initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

    Build and/or modify dynamically representative finite element models (FEM).

    Perform modal structural analyses.

    Generate doublet-lattice and linearized Euler aerodynamics.

    Perform flutter analyses and interpret results.

    Perform aeroservoelastic analyses.

    Support pre-flight preparation including review of test limitations, flight test plans and procedures, flight readiness reviews, mission control room support, and post flight analysis.

    Work with other internal and external engineering groups to ensure proper application aeroelastic requirements.

    Support entry into commercial service by ensuring that regulatory and internal company requirements related to aeroelasticity are met.

    Perform FEM updates and tuning from data collected during ground and flight testing and data created with analytical tools.

    Develop infrastructure to improve engineering quality by creating engineering standards, processes, and supporting tools, templates, & guidelines.

    Provide technical mentoring to junior engineers. Advise on methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria to solve complex problems.

    Lead the creation of flight test plans to support the verification of spaceships and motherships.

    Lead the creation of project plans, task lists, schedules, and technical risk assessments.

    Recommend solutions that balance technical rigor, schedule, and cost.

    Ensure stakeholders are identified, consulted, and bought in through all phases of projects.

    Manage work with engineering service providers, author statements of work.

    Provide insight into leading edge developments within the aeroelasticity community.

Required Skills:

    Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, and/or equivalent, with a minimum of 10 years of related experience.

    Aeroelasticity background.

    Test planning experience is highly desired, including flight and ground testing, writing test plans, instrumentation selection and planning, and data verification.

    Test execution experience is highly desired, including familiarity with standard flight test practices and safety processes.

    Advanced MATLAB skills.

    NASTRAN experience.

    Proven ability to lead technical work in an environment with multiple stakeholders

    Excellent proactive communication (oral, written, presentation), interpersonal, negotiation and organizational skills

    Ability to successfully complete assigned tasks with minimal supervision and oversight

    Knowledge of aircraft & space systems and familiarity with relevant aerospace standards.

    Knowledge in requirements engineering & standard program lifecycle phases.

    Excellent proactive communication (oral, written, presentation), interpersonal, negotiation and organizational skills.

Desired Skills:

    Experience with FEMAP highly desired.

    Experience with ZAERO, ZEUS and/or FUN3D highly desired.

    Experience in other Flight Sciences disciplines.

    Skills in Python, C, C++, CATIA V5.
