Description:

This is a very exciting opportunity to work with one of the world's largest aerospace companies! The contracts are regularly extended, and direct opportunities are often available.

Applies knowledge of design principles to assess and resolve product/process issues through the product lifecycle. Analyzes, conducts root cause analysis and develops dispositions for design non-conformances. Applies engineering principles to research technical, operational and quality issues that cannot be resolved by customer and designs interim and final engineering solutions. Identifies documents, analyzes reported problems and communicates deviations that could impact design intent and safety; recommends and manages resolution. Develops and implements product/process improvements. Supports Integrated Product Teams (IPT) and participates in design reviews. Represents the engineering community in the build through post production environment. Ensures supplier and build partner compliance with company standards. Develops customer correspondence for continued safe operation and maintenance of equipment. Participates in on-site disabled product repair teams and accident investigation or support team. Analyzes damage repair or structural modification to determine appropriate jacking and shoring, prevent collateral damage and assure a safe work environment. Designs interim structural repairs and conducts static strength analysis. Develops non-destructive test procedures, tools and standards. Conducts simple static strength analysis. This position requires direct engineering support at an off-site supplier for the depopulation efforts which remove previously fielded (used) major assemblies, sub-assemblies, and detail components from the Apache rotorcraft. They are inspected and dispositioned with the intent of repairing/restoring to a serviceable condition; these items are then modified by the primary integrator, then re-installed on the aircraft. The components vary in terms of the state of serviceability, and component type; they consist of both primary and secondary, metallic and composite bonded structures, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, flight safety related components, and armament sub-systems.
Job Description:
Develops dispositions for previously fielded, unserviceable items utilizing Interactive Electronica Technical Manuals (IETM), Depot Maintenance Work Repairs (DMWRs), engineering drawings and/or process specifications.
Applies broad knowledge of company design and/or engineering principles.
Develops and implements product/process improvements.
Communicates engineering serviceability issues with Integrated Product Teams (IPT) and participating in design reviews.
Uses innovative approaches and unique applications to address complex unserviceable conditions and to detect deviations.
Utilizes basic static strength analysis to design interim and/or structural repairs.
Analyzes reported problems for potential safety issues; recommends and manages complex resolution.
Leads development of interim and final dispositions.
Represents the engineering community in the build through post production environment.
Ensures supplier and build partner compliance with company standards.
Develops customer correspondence for continued safe operation and maintenance of equipment.
Supports supplier activities for on-site disabled product repair teams.

Keywords: Material review board experience, Sheet metal or composite repair, Aircraft maintenance, major assemblies, sub-assemblies, and detail components from the Apache rotorcraft, components vary in terms of the state of serviceability, and component type; they consist of both primary and secondary, metallic and composite bonded structures, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, flight safety related components, and armament sub-systems.

Preferred Qualifications:
Previous Material Review Board (MRB) experience preferred.
Universal Product Review (UPR) preferred
Previous experience with Depot Maintenance Work Requirement (DMWR) and/or Interactive Electronic Technical Manual (IETM) highly desired.
Ability to learn in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to collaborate with other engineers (both face-to-face, and via remote correspondence) and factory-floor mechanics.
Develop and implement product/process improvements.
Develop customer correspondence for continued safe operation and maintenance of equipment.

Skills: Mechanical Design, Composites and Materials, Knowledge of aircraft sheet metal, aircraft structures assembly

Education:
Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study in Mechanical, Aerospace / Aeronautical, Civil, or Electrical engineering. ABET is preferred.

Work will be performed at offsite supplier (SES-I, 248 Dunlop Blvd SW, Huntsville, AL).
