Job Title: Senior Engineer

Location: Oakbrook Terrace, IL

Position Overview: We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Engineer specializing in Substation Design to lead and manage complex engineering projects within our organization. The ideal candidate will possess extensive expertise in substation physical design, demonstrate exceptional communication and analytical skills, and thrive in a collaborative, cross-departmental team environment.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Substation Physical Design Expertise:

   • Lead the planning, design, and implementation of new substations and modifications to existing facilities.

   • Develop comprehensive electrical drawing packages, including substation layouts, grounding plans, and control building arrangements.

   • Ensure designs adhere to industry standards and regulatory requirements, incorporating best practices in electrical engineering.

   • Utilize design software such as AutoCAD and AS8 to create detailed and accurate design documents.

2. Communication and Analytical Skills:

   • Collaborate effectively with internal teams, clients, and stakeholders to define project requirements and deliverables.

   • Prepare clear and concise reports, proposals, and technical documentation.

   • Analyze complex engineering problems, develop innovative solutions, and present findings to senior management.

   • Lead meetings and presentations, articulating technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

3. Team Collaboration:

   • Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including electrical, civil, and structural engineers, to ensure cohesive project development.

   • Mentor and provide guidance to junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.

   • Coordinate project activities across various departments, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and timelines.

   • Promote a collaborative work environment, encouraging open communication and teamwork.

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Engineering Technology.

• Experience: A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in substation design and engineering.

• Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD for creating detailed design drawings.

  • Experience with AS8 software for electrical design applications.

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) for documentation and communication.

• Certifications: Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
