Avionics Systems Engineer

Description:
Job Summary:
Responsible for the research, integration, testing, certification, and follow-on support of avionics and electrical components and software for general aviation aircraft. Work closely with equipment manufacturers, as well as other systems engineers and test pilots within the organization to establish and refine cross-system requirements for a highly integrated avionics system to help ensure a high quality end user experience with a safe, robust, and intuitive system design.

Job Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):
Integration and testing of avionics and electrical systems and equipment, including:
Requirements development and traceability
Research and identification of potential solutions to design objectives
Detail design and installation
Test case development, execution, and troubleshooting on both bench and aircraft
Coordinate design development and system integration with subcontractors
Generate high quality reports and test plans that will be used to meet FAR Part 23 certification requirements
Generate engineering documentation in accordance with company procedures to develop and maintain type design data for multiple aircraft

Required Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor%u2019s degree in Electrical or Aerospace Engineering (or equivalent) required
10-14 years experience with general aviation avionics development/integration
Prior experience with the following is desirable:
Integrated avionics systems (e.g. G1000, G3000, etc.)
Avionics systems, software and hardware development processes (e.g. ARP-4754/DO-178/DO-254).
Requirements traceability (DOORS, JAMA, etc.)
Equipment environmental qualification (e.g. DO-160)
Distinguishing Education and/or Experience:
Previous certification experience with standards such as 14 CFR Part 23.
%u2022 Process development experience (Six Sigma Green belt or others).
Process mapping and deployment experience (VSM).
Use of design tools such as CREO, MATLAB, VBA, or similar programs.
Requirements Management tool experience (PTC Integrity, Doors, Jama, or equivalent).
Change Management and Configuration Management tool experience (JIRA, Windchill, Clearquest, Clearcase, or equivalent).
Pilot or Ground School experience preferred.

Demonstrated Proficiencies/Skills/Abilities:
Must be able to demonstrate the ability to read, write and speak the English language
Ability to communicate technical knowledge in a clear and understandable manner
Ability to work both independently and within a cross-functional team
Ability to efficiently learn new skills and manage multiple tasks
Use of lab equipment, such as oscilloscopes, signal generators, and spectrum analyzers
Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Visio)
Familiarity with Atlassian JIRA, PTC Windchill PDM, and PTC Creo tools preferred

Rate: $65-$70/HR.
