Completions Electrical Engineer – DER

Description:
Works on engineering projects containing critical problems, the solution of which requires major technological advances and extensive related development

Education and Experience Requirements:
• Bachelor's Degree in engineering or related curriculum applicable to the respective job position required or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
• 13 yrs specific technical discipline or 15 yrs broad eng experience in several technical disciplines with Bachelors.
• Experience credit considered for related adv degrees limited to 2 yrs for Masters and 4 yrs for PhD in fields applicable to this job.

Qualifications:
• Strong computer, written and verbal communication skills required.
• Experience with Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint are required.
• Time management skills are required to work multiple concurrent projects of various size and scope.
• Experience with avionics and electrical system design to the requirements of 14 CFR Part 23 preferred.
• Experience with computer-aided wiring diagram and harnessing software is desired.
• Mentor Graphics preferred. Experience with electrical wiring, harnessing, and manufacturing is strongly desired.
• Design knowledge of electrical bonding criteria, thermal cooling requirements for electronic equipment, EMI shielding, and High Intensity Radiated Fields desired.

Unique Skills:
• FAA designee (ODA UM or DER) -14 CFR Part 23 Chart C1,2,5 (L17 EWIS Not requiered but prefered) – Systems & Equipment Electrical Experience with complex certification projects integrating multiple systems engineering experience or relative aviation technical or systems experience.
• Responsible for ensuring the proposed design is certifiable, coordinating with the FAA, resolution of certification issues, determination of the certification basis, writing the certification plan, witnessing certification testing, and finding compliance.
• Assists in preparation of reports, engineering drawings, and other documents.
• Responsible for completing complex development, design testing and certification assignments for new design or modifications.
• Develops creative scientific alternatives during course of job assignments to reach desired outcome.
• Performs work utilizing frequent application of in-depth engineering principles.
• Maintain a high degree of proficiency in computer applications to accomplish tasks.
• Requests and coordinates work performed by Engineering support groups, Experimental, Manufacturing and Supply Chain Management for the project.
• Maintains contact with Product Support Engineering and production departments to resolve engineering problems impeding production and to assist in the incorporation of new design concepts and changes.
• Reviews and evaluates supplier proposals for potential utilization on future models.
• Provides periodic design reviews and update presentations to management of engineering and other company organizations and tools.

Essential Functions:
• Responsible for an entire engineering project of major complexity within established scope
• Makes technical decisions and recommendations that are recognized as authoritative and have an important impact on extensive engineering activities
• Applies advanced technical principles, theories and concepts based on broad expertise or unique specialized knowledge
• Leads the development of innovative principles and ideas
• Acts independently to determine improved methods and/or procedures to optimize technical product, cost and schedule requirements
• Works under consultative direction; uses independent judgment to accomplish objectives
• Develops standards and guides for diverse engineering activities
• Conceives and plans investigation of broad areas of importance for which engineering precedents are lacking in areas critical to the program Perform other duties as assigned.

Other Requirements:
• Advanced degree in engineering or related curriculum preferred.
• The level of technical skill and abilities appropriate for this grade will be established by each discipline.
