Brazer/Solderer 2

PDS Tech, Inc. is seeking Brazer/Solderer 2 in Medford, NY


  • Under general supervision, performs a wide variety of electronic, electromechanical or mechanical production sub-assembly and assembly operations of a skilled nature to build up and assemble difficult and complex units by performing the following duties.


  • Determines methods and sequence of assembly operations where complete information is not readily available or follows assembly shop and production operations sheets, wire lists, samples, blue prints, schematics and verbal instructions to perform a wide variety of assembly operations.
  • Utilizes small hand tools such as soldering irons, wire strippers, crimpers, wrenches, screwdrivers, pliers, and hammers.
  • Identifies and selects components to be integrated into sub-assembly and assembly units.
  • Makes own set-ups, alignments and adjustments maintaining tolerance in accordance with instructions.
  • Disassembles, modifies, reworks, refurbishes, reassembles, and tests units as required.
  • May provide work leadership to lower level assemblers through assignment or work review of progress and monitoring of results.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

  • Candidate must be highly skilled with a soldering iron (through hole and limited SMT assembly) and basic hand tools (mil spec crimpers, toque drivers and other calibrated hand tools included)
  • Experience with assembly of surface mount and thru-hole components on circuit boards, using JSTD 001/IPC 610, and chassis wire routing, lacing/tying/harnessing using WHMA-620 required.
  • Must have experience with mechanical assembly and integration of sensitive electronics assemblies within a mechanical enclosure
  • Familiar with ESD precautions in electronics manufacturing
  • Must be able to read and interpret engineering drawings/ bills of materials written in English and translate this information into a finished assembly
  • Must be able to work autonomously with minimal direct supervision

Current certification in:

  • J-STD-001 Class 3 (space addendum desired, but not required)
  • WHMA-620 Class 3 (space addendum desired, but not required)


  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); five plus years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
