Quality Inspector – Certifying Staff

Description:
PDS Tech Commercial is seeking candidates for a Quality Inspector position in Ashburn. VA

Position Summary:

Perform receipt and evaluation inspections of complex components and assemblies using pre-set inspection plans. Ensure compliance with all associated quality procedures, airworthiness control plans, and quality management system requirements.

Primary Responsibilities:

Material Inspections: 75%

  • Using existing aerospace knowledge and expertise to inspect varieties of finished articles to ensure conformance with FAA/EASA/TCCA Part 21 specifications and established quality standards, including customer requirements.
  • Maintain material batch and manufacturer traceability information.
  • Review, analyse, and approve aerospace articles that have been maintained under FAA/EASA/TCCA regulations and/or received special certification processes.
  • Perform inspection procedures and issue TCCA Form 1 on all New Articles manufactured under ASQR 4.6. All inspections shall be performed in accordance with Client's QAD 3.8.4.6.1CS, Quality Management System, Client Parent's QAD and SAP inspection plans. Accept the responsibility for a rotating 24-hour "On-Call" shift schedule.
  • Perform inspection procedures and issue EASA Form 1 on all New Articles in accordance with Client Parent's POA's requirements and EASA Part 21G regulatory requirements. Accept the responsibility for a rotating 24-hour "On-Call" shift schedule.
  • Issue Discrepancy Reports and Unserviceable Tags on non-conforming material. Monitor and follow up on storage conditions on all Spares material. Assist in the resolution of customer complaints concerning Proprietary Parts and Supplier quality problems.
  • Ensure quality systems integrity. Inspectors incur legal and liability issues for the company when creating and signing various airworthiness certificates and documents.

Records Traceability: 15%

  • Maintain issued TCCA Form 1, EASA Form 1 and FAA 8103-3.
  • Maintain material batch and manufacturer traceability information.
  • Document and record non-conformance process issues concerning business operations.

Quality Representative: 5%

  • Represent the Quality Management Department during internal meetings, working committees and modification programs.
  • Assist other employees with their questions and issues related to quality management criteria.

Additional Responsibilities: 5%

  • Interface with Client's Material Logistics and Suppliers in the process of reporting, investigating and resolving material non-conformances and quality issues.
  • Interface with SAP key users regarding electronic data processing functions and systems support for Quality Management functions/operations.

Qualified Experience / Skills / Training:

  • 5 -7 years of aircraft maintenance experience and knowledge of aircraft operations, systems and practices.
  • Familiarization with aerospace quality control and quality assurance systems.
  • 5 - 7 years of manufacturing experience under one of the following: FAA FAR Part 21, EASA Part 21G, TCCA Part 21.
  • Familiarization with AS9100 / AS9120.
  • Familiarization with First Article Inspection.
  • Familiarization with the use of tooling to make airworthiness determinations such as Calipers, micrometers, depth gages.
Education:
  • 2 years of college or technical school in one the following disciplines is preferred: Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electro Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Drafting.

Licensure/Certifications:

  • FAA Airframe & Power Plant (A&P) License or previous Military Maintenance Certification.
  • FAA FAR Part 21Certification.
  • EASA Part 21G Certification.
  • TCAA Part 21.
  • Valid Passport.
  • Valid Driver's License.

Knowledge, Skills, Demonstrated Capabilities:

  • Aerospace Design - knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals involved in the production of aerospace components. Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, schematics and ICA operating specifications.
  • Quality Management Analysis - experience in conducting tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance.
  • Complex Problem Solving - identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.


Communication Skills (Spoken, Written, Influencing, Proficiency in Other Languages):

  • Fluent in English

Technical Systems Proficiency:

  • Interface with SAP Key User regarding electronic data processing functions and systems support for Quality Management functions/operations.

Travel Required:

  • 5% Domestic and International

Eligibility:

  • US citizenship is required

  • Critical Thinking - Possess the ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions and approaches to non-conformance problems.
  • Complex Problem Solving - Experience in identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.

Organizational information:

  • The Quality Management Inspector shall report to the Quality Manager.

  • Applicant must demonstrate the ability to construct and publish written communications that clearly document and describe material deviations and non-conformances to preset technical specifications.

Physical Requirements:

  • Applicant must have ability for lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds, pushing/pulling, sitting, standing, squatting/kneeling, walking, speaking, hearing, vision, and manual dexterity 100% of the time.
