PDS Tech Commercial is partnering with a global aerospace leader to find an experienced Structural Design Engineer to join the Structures Organization in Long Beach, California. In this role, you’ll contribute to aircraft and payload designs that connect people across the globe—working on products that truly matter, from commercial aviation to advanced aerospace systems.

What You’ll Do
As a Structural Design Engineer, you’ll play a critical role throughout the product lifecycle, from concept to customer delivery. Your day-to-day work will include:

• Developing, integrating, and documenting structural and interior payload system requirements

• Designing, maintaining, and modifying aircraft structural and payload components using 3D CAD tools

• Providing clear product definitions for engineering teams, production, suppliers, and external customers

• Improving design and analysis processes to increase quality, efficiency, and effectiveness

• Exploring emerging technologies to support future product concepts

• Collaborating across engineering disciplines while working under general direction

• Traveling occasionally to support customers and gain hands-on learning experiences

 
Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Civil Engineering

• 5+ years of experience with aircraft structures, materials, properties, and release processes

• 5+ years of experience with aircraft primary structures, including design, strength, and fatigue

 
This position requires use of information or access to facilities subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or Export Administration Regulations (EAR). These regulations may limit access of controlled technologies: 1) to U.S. Persons, including U.S. Citizens, lawful permanent residents, and other narrow categories including refugees and asylees, or 2) to certain foreign nationals that have received an export license.                                               
 
Preferred Qualifications

• 9+ years (or 14+ years) of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience

• Experience with CATIA, ENOVIA, and PDM tools

• Strong background in primary aircraft structural design, including fatigue, damage tolerance, corrosion, and stress analysis

• Experience in Airplane Design, Stress Analysis, Liaison Engineering, or Manufacturing Engineering

• Familiarity with aircraft primary structures

• Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills

• ABET-accredited education preferred
