Furniture Preparation and Finishing:
Work under general supervision to prepare aircraft furniture for finishing by following blueprints, aircraft specifications, and design/engineering drawings.
Perform high-quality repairs to various finished surfaces, both in the shop and aboard aircraft, ensuring that all blemishes are cleaned and polished to prepare for delivery.
Apply finishes to furniture using spray equipment, as well as manual and mechanical methods.
Utilize various types of sandpapers, polishes, adhesives, masking mediums, solvents, and finish materials to ensure a consistent and high-quality finish on all components.
Tool and Equipment Use:
Operate hand tools, power tools, and spray equipment safely and effectively to complete furniture disassembly and finishing tasks.
Maintain and care for tools and equipment to ensure they are in good working condition and used appropriately.
Safety, 5S, and Housekeeping:
Comply with all safety policies, procedures, and industry standards.
Follow 5S principles to maintain an organized and clean work environment.
Use personal protective equipment (PPE) to protect both aircraft interiors and personal safety.
Material Tracking and Documentation:
Utilize the material tracking system to create parts demand, track discrepancies (squawks), and sign off on completed work.
Ensure accurate documentation of work processes, including materials used and tasks completed, to maintain compliance with quality control standards.
Communication Skills:
Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language to follow instructions and complete documentation accurately.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to climb ladders, stairs, and work in confined or restricted spaces as required.
Capable of lifting up to 40 pounds and performing tasks that require mobility and dexterity in varying work environments.
Computer Proficiency:
Must be computer literate, with basic knowledge of software applications required for documentation and tracking purposes.
Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
Experience:
Two (2) years of experience in wood finishing is required.
Experience in the aerospace industry is preferred.
Skills:
Basic knowledge of cabinet finishing processes, including familiarity with the materials, tools, and equipment used.
Experience with various types of sandpapers, solvents, adhesives, and finishes.
