Senior Electrical Engineer

Description:
Our Client is looking for a Sr. Electrical Engineer with experience in power electronics and motor drive design to join our Space Robotics team in Pasadena,CA. The Senior Electrical Engineer will be responsible for working on a variety of terrestrial and space based projects at the Pasadena office. We are looking for an electrical engineer generalist who has a wide range of skills and interests.

You will be part of a team of electrical design engineers responsible for the development of electromechanical systems including direct and indirect testing of prototype and production hardware. You will be working and collaborating on projects related to terrestrial applications, space exploration, and robotics. What You'll Do Day to Day

Actively participate in the design of motor drive systems, electronics, software, and hardware
Help define the control and hardware architecture for a variety of motor applications including stepper motors and brushless DC motor (BLDC) control and AC motors.
Translate and interpret user and mission needs into actionable EE design requirements
Generate and document system electrical block diagrams, electrical schematics, multi-layer PCB layout and routing and related art-work using Altium Designer
Oversees the electrical system design and development at both a component level and project level.
Simulate and model circuit designs, perform power analyses, and thermal management for high-REL.
Generate EEE part lists and Bill of Materials, review part screening and qualification data
Design and develop hardware test procedures and fixtures
Prepare and present technical design reviews and presentations to outside customers.
Communicate with suppliers to convey manufacturing and assembly requirements for electronic products
Manage improvements and revisions of existing hardware designs
Minimum Requirements

A B.S. degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related field. M.S. degree preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of direct motor control design experience or 3 years with M.S.
Expert knowledge of common topologies for Motor Control Design, including power regulation, PWM, GaN-FETs, Field Oriented Control (FOC), Power Inverters, and rotary style resolvers and position sensors, commutation sensors,
Experience using Altium, OrCAD, or similar schematic capture and computer aided design tools.
Strong analog and digital circuit design and simulation skills


These Skills Would be Amazing

Experience designing for space application a plus.
Experience using Solidworks or similar mechanical CAD software.
Strong Python and or Matlab programming skills.
Experience in basic LabVIEW programming and instrumentation.
Familiar with RS-485/422/232 I2C and other MCU related interfaces.
Familiarity with MIL-STD-461, DO-160, compliance testing.
Excellent time/cost/team management skills.
