HVAC Engineer

Description:
Responsibilities:
• Develop new and revise existing operational test procedures and maintenance documentation associated with the launch vehicle ECS and facility HVAC systems to meet customer requirements.
• Serve as engineer responsible for disposition of corrective actions and coordination with cross-functional groups to identify/implement solutions. This will include management of facility projects to ensure effective and timely technical integration and implementation.
• Candidate will ensure all projects are managed per implementation schedules and within established engineering budgets. Will prepare working schematics, detailed drawings and contract Statements of Work. Candidate will perform field walk-downs and review and revise electronic CAD files to produce accurate design and as-built drawings of launch facilities and support equipment.
• The candidate will conduct feasibility studies, determine engineering criteria or Client and cost estimates for projects or tasks, or perform analyses to develop design/redesign options, improvements, or recommendations for systems and components. Actively supports system operation, trouble shooting and maintenance. Provides innovative solutions to complex engineering problems.
• Perform engineering thermodynamic, heat transfer and fluid/gas dynamic calculations.
• Conduct multidisciplinary research; collaborate with equipment designers and/or hardware engineers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of automated control systems.

Experience:
• Bachelor of Science from an accredited college in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience, with a minimum of 7 years of professional experience.
• The successful candidate should have experience constructing, modifying and/or operating facility ECS/HVAC systems for space launch facilities and/or heavy industrial facilities. Experience with industrial process heating, refrigeration and air-conditioning systems and equipment is essential.
• This position requires competent knowledge of facility ECS/HVAC systems, mechanical engineering design, CAD practices as well as a sound practical (hands-on) knowledge of engineering principles, practices, and industry standards.

• The successful candidate should be self-motivated and able to work productively without constant direct supervision.
• Candidate will be given latitude to determine technical objectives and define the most efficient approaches to completing assignments.
• Work is guided by long-term organizational objectives. Assignments can be self-initiated.
• Determines and pursues courses of action necessary to obtain desired results.
• Work is checked through consultation and agreement with others as well as through supervisory review.
• Develops solutions to complex engineering/scientific problems that require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity and modification of standard techniques and analytical methods.
• Viewed as an expert in the field within the organization. Possibly an emerging authority in the company. Guides the successful completion of major programs and projects; may function in a project leadership role.
• May be a CRE for complex components. Poor decisions or recommendations would typically result in failure to achieve major organizational/program objectives.
• Work is performed independently. Exercises considerable latitude in determining the technical objective of the assignment.
• Completed work is reviewed from a relatively long-term perspective for desired results. Provides mentorship to others to further their discipline or the company.
