Manufacturing Engineer

Description:
We have an outstanding Contract position for a Manufacturing Engineer to join a leading Company located in the Baltimore, MD surrounding area.

**US Citizenship is required.**

Responsibilities:
Develop/revise new and existing engineering specifications, processes, and procedures that support the manufacturing of carbon fiber-reinforced composite structures
Process Engineering changes, incorporate tooling and planning updates
Provide manufacturing process plans for internal repairs
Tooling Specifications
Tooling Design, manufacturing, and Geometry Buy-Off via modeling software
Production/Manufacturing Planning
Develop cost models and provide Cost Out concepts within production processes
Manufacturability of design concepts
Cost estimates and ROI of new concepts and designs to be automated
Develop tooling concepts and production methodology for automation cells
Support business reviews and provide technical insight into manufacturing
Critical Thinking:
Troubleshoot complex engineering issues that are affecting part quality, cost, and/or function (Machine to tooling interface/Tool to part Interface/Part to Assembly Interface)
Develop engineering metrics around productivity and part flow and report to the business
Incorporate lean manufacturing methods and use Six Sigma data analysis tools to resolve CTQ issues
Communication:
Create and employ operator manufacturing procedures, training manuals, and programs for certifying operators
Effectively liaison with design/analysis engineering, procurement, union representatives, and business leadership
Create engineering documentation in support of manufacturing activities and new equipment design, purchase, and installation
Provide technical support to existing configuration change board for large thrust reverser and nacelle programs

Basic Hiring Criteria:
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a relevant engineering discipline
Minimum 5 years of experience in manufacturing engineering relating to composite structures and or other aerospace structures

Desired Qualifications:
Experience in manufacturing and engineering technology
Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methods
Ability to support on-site
