Field Installation/Maintenance (Gas)


PDS Tech is hiring a Technical Services Representative to conduct field installations and maintenance of industrial gas compression equipment for our client located in Appleton, WI.

This position is primarily responsible for field installation and maintenance of gas compression equipment and compressed natural gas (CNG) refueling equipment and systems for new and existing customers.  The job involves representing the company to the customer and assuring customer satisfaction through proper equipment set-up, operator and maintenance training and on-going service calls.   Position also performs in-house check-out of finished machinery prior to shipping, final inspection of machinery, and sales support when technical representation is required.  Position provides technical support remotely to other company Service Representatives and contracted field service representatives.  The position requires 24-hour support on a rotational basis, including regular weekend and holiday work.  Geographic area of responsibility is North America. Responsible for supervising equipment installation and start-up at customer locations.   Develops and implements a customer training program sufficient to assure continued operation and customer satisfaction after field technician leaves customer site.  Makes routine service trips to customer sites at request of supervisor.  Keeps detailed notes from service trips, and distributes trip reports appropriately. Travels to customer sites, to troubleshoot equipment and process problems.  Utilizes analytical skills to determine root causes of failures and malfunctions.  Recommends and implements corrective actions. Travels to customer sites to perform preventive maintenance activities.  Records and documents site conditions to proactively mitigate unplanned shutdowns.  Recommends and implements corrective actions. When not traveling, provides technical phone support and troubleshooting for customers.  Documents customer phone activity in call center database.  Contacts and dispatches third-party service providers, as needed.  Follows up with customers to verify resolution of problems.  Provides 24-hour technical assistance to customers on a rotational basis, including regular weekend and holiday work. ESSENTIAL DUTIES (Continued) Performs check-out of equipment prior to shipping.  Objective is to verify that machinery will run safely and according to customer specifications. When not traveling, facilitates the sales effort when technical assistance is required, (e.g., in-house machinery demonstrations).  Will also perform the assembly of new products, as required.  Assists with equipment operation at national and international trade shows. Assists with R&D and other special projects as required.  Provides technical advice and assistance to other departments. Must be totally proficient with equipment operation including programs, troubleshooting, maintenance, operation and applications. Responsible for training new service technicians and third-party contractors.  

Pay Details: $29.53 to $35.66 PER HOUR
