Equipment Stress Engineer

Description:
The primary role of the Stress Engineer is to collect the process, mechanical, controls, safety, and other requirements for the process equipment in order to develop design documents and calculations for the equipment to meet the applicable requirements.

The stress engineer will:

- Performs equipment stress analyses using FEA software as well as performs reviews of FEA and other submittals prepared by equipment vendors.

- Work as part of a team that includes senior engineers with expertise in FEA and Code analysis.

- Coordinates within the engineering group and other disciplines and groups in developing the detailed equipment design in a team environment.

- Resolves technical issues related to the discipline, and discusses them with other disciplines, groups, suppliers, and the customer.

- Prepares reports and studies in resolving open technical issues related to the equipment design.

- Ensures the work is performed to the high-quality standards for nuclear facilities while executing to the schedule.

In addition, the candidate will be required to have excellent communication skills and can be the face of Bechtel promoting our leadership, quality, and safety values to external partners, vendors, construction companies, and other subcontractors.

Qualifications and Skills:

Level 1:
BS degree in Mechanical /Civil Engineering, from an accredited university, with at least 1 year of relevant experience .

Level 2:
BS degree in Mechanical /Civil Engineering, from an accredited university, with at least 3 years of relevant professional experience

Related experience includes, but is not limited to, the design and fabrication of complex processing equipment.

Minimum Qualifications

Detailed working knowledge of standards associated with fabrication and construction of process equipment. This would include but is not limited to ASME Section VIII, ASME B31.3, and AISC N690.

Hands on experience using FEA analysis software such as ANSYS.

Understanding of stress analysis, process equipment design, and dynamic (response spectra) solutions for seismic analysis of equipment.

Experience in working with procedures meeting quality assurance programs such as ASME-NQA-1, MIL-Q-9858A, or ISO-9000.

Must be able to complete a pre-employment drug screen and background check.

Possess the legal right to work and remain in the US without sponsorship

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in equipment design analysis in DOE or commercial nuclear facilities.

Experience using ANSYS Finite Element Analysis Software (Mechanical APDL or Workbench).
