Mechanical Inspector I

Chipton-Ross is seeking a Mechanical Inspector I for an opening in Menlo Park, CA.

As part of the Quality Assurance Organization, the Function of QC Mechanical Inspector has basic responsibility for implementing and maintaining quality standards, procedures and the protocol for the Quality Control functions which include; Receiving Inspection and In-Process Inspection. Ensures that product is inspected, and tested per company quality standards and the requirements as specified on Purchase Orders for incoming product through Vendors and In-Process Work Orders for product being manufactured In-Process (WIP). The QC Mechanical Inspector is a direct report to the Q.C. Supervisor.
The QC Mechanical Inspector has the knowledge of all activities of the Receiving and In-Process Inspection process and procedures and may act in behalf of any of the Inspection Methods and activites when called upon.
Quality Assurance and the respective organization of Quality Engineering and Quality Control are the “Eyes and Ears” of the customer, and acts as the internal customer by being the control point to review and approve engineering designs, technical data, drawings, and verification and validation of testing and throughput of Product Acceptance at all Work Centers.
• Interprets blueprints, work orders, and other documentation to determine acceptance or rejection standards.
Performs visual and dimensional inspection of first articles, assemblies, final product, and tooling, utilizing micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and other precision measuring instru¬ments.
• Documents inspection results, maintains records, and prepares reports.
• Routes inspected parts to appropriate destination.
• Performs limited, intermittent physical exertion. Works under acceptable conditions with some distraction due to occasional exposure to noise, dust, heat or chemicals.
• Follow direction and implement added scope objectives and activities outlined by QA Director.

Flexible to work varied shifts, overtime, weekends and travel on occasion.
• Able to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, and squat.
• Able to occasionally push, and reach.
• Able to move items up to 25 pounds for distances of up to 30 feet.
• Must have good repetitive manual dexterity with both hands.
• Must have sufficient vision to see relative positions of small parts and able to discern symmetry and proper alignment.
• Work performed is technically sound and accepted.
• Work is performed at a task driven level.
• Responsible for executing tasks in conformance with established policies, practices, and procedures.
Technical Breadth
• Understanding of Quality Control and Inspection concepts and methodologies. Very Good knowledge of understanding and reading Drawings.

Problem Solving
• Demonstrates ability to analyze and interpret incomplete information; adapts problem-solving approach to variable situations.
? Applies knowledge within the framework of defined policies and principles, to identify Anomalies and Defects found through the techniques of Inspection.

• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Displays consistently good interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively work with others in achieving project goals.

EDUCATION: High school/GED

SHIFT: Daily hours 9/80.
