Engineer III

PDS Tech, Inc. is seeking a Mechanical Engineer in Everett, WA.


  • Develops and designs, using engineering principles, parts, components, sub-assemblies, assemblies and systems 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performs assigned tasks meeting the organization's expectations for quality, schedule and process compliance
  • Ensures application of business unit best practices and identifies the need for enhanced processes, methods, and tools
  • Leads technical aspect of bids and proposals for new business
  • Translates technical requirements into work requirements, processes, and tasks
  • New designs and modify existing ones
  • Detailed designs and drawings
  • Installation drawing
  • System architecture
  • Selects and validates appropriate material 
  • Selects and validates standard mechanical components such as fasteners, inserts, etc
  • Performs spatial integration at system or component level of mechanisms or systems
  • Prepares, reviews and validates structural and systems layouts, preliminary sizing, installations, assembly and detail drawings
  • Able to lead the integration  with technology, stress, systems, manufacturing and test teams
  • Develops and validates solutions to problems
  • Identifies and communicates the need for new or enhanced design requirements
  • Collaborates and coordinates with customer to develop solutions
  • Selects contractors, subcontractors, vendors and suppliers to exchange technical data and coordinate project execution
  • Validates, communicates design solutions, and assist investigating and resolving design issues
  • Exercises broad latitude in determining technical solutions
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, etc.) and CATIA V5
  • Travels off-site to vendor/customer locations as required in performance of responsibilities
  • Mentors less experienced staff
  • Regular, predictable attendance is required
  • Adheres to safe work practices and contributes to the evolution of the health, safety, and environmental program and culture

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent engineering degree
  • 6-9 years experience in an engineering classification in the aerospace industry, specifically in mechanical and structural design of Rotorcraft and Aircraft Primary and Secondary Structures and systems
  • Proficiency in using Catia V5 or equivalent
  • Advanced understanding of stress analysis concepts and methodologies


  • Advanced knowledge of rotorcraft and aircraft Designs and Installations
  • Advanced knowledge in rotorcraft and aircraft primary and secondary structures; and rotorcraft and aircraft mechanical systems
  • Advanced knowledge in preliminary sizing and detailing of parts/components/systems; mechanical and structural design for manufacturing, design within certification requirements, weight control, drafting procedures and standards
  • Advanced knowledge in designing both Metallic and Non Metallic structures
  • Advanced knowledge of FAR Part 23/25 and Part 27/29 regulations
  • Advanced knowledge of configuration management
  • Advanced understanding of product lifecycle management
  • Tooling & manufacturing experience (Preferred)
  • Experience leading activities and teams
  • Ability to effectively communicate and work in a team environment
  • Ability to make decisions applicable to job level and responsibilities
  • Ability to work with MS Office computer applications
  • Fluent in English (written and verbal)
