Mechanical Engineer Job Description

The Mechanical Engineer acts as both a contributor and coordinator of other technical personnel utilized in the design of marine systems including mechanical, electrical controls, software, and technical writing. This position ensures all technical documentation meets industry and customer specifications while maintaining cost-competitiveness in the marketplace.

Mechanical Engineer Responsibilities:

Review design packages for Customer and Industry compliance

Generate estimates with regular cost and schedule reports

Maintain all engineering project documents

Perform calculations including; material stress analysis, weld sizing, mechanical fastener sizing, and torque and power calculations

Generate CAD models and engineering drawings

Perform data transmittals for contract-required engineering data

Review and approve revised engineering data packages for completeness and authorize release-for-manufacture (RFM)

Mechanical Engineer Requirements:

US Citizen or Green Card holder

Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or relevant discipline

5 years of complex design experience (preferably with naval or marine background)

Minimum 3 years of experience managing engineering projects

Proficient in 2D and 3D modeling software like SOLIDWORKS, AutoCAD, and FEA

Ability to travel; estimated 5%

Preferred:

Experience with Military/Navy standards, specifications, and requirements
Professional Engineers (PE) License
Master of Science in Engineering, Masters of Business Administration, or 10 years of experience in designing industrial or marine equipment
Managing and executing complex engineering projects
Design in electrohydraulic or electromechanical systems
