Develops, integrates and documents structural and interior payload system requirements to establish the system design. Develops, maintains and modifies structural and interior payload system and component designs, using 3-D Computer Aided Design tools and/or other design methods, to provide product definition to other engineering groups, production operations, suppliers and external customers throughout the product lifecycle. Performs, integrates analytical and test results to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications. Manages supplier development, test and production activities and coordinates with the supplier to optimize the design and achieve program goals. Develops new design/analysis processes and tools to improve the effectiveness, quality and efficiency of the development effort. Investigates emerging technologies to develop concepts for future product designs to meet projected requirements. Works under general direction.

Company Defense, Space & Security (BDS) is seeking an Experienced Structural Design Engineer (Level 3) for the Design Center South (Huntsville, Houston, Titusville), which is a multi-function Engineering Organization with a mission statement to provide engineering solutions via a highly skilled flexible workforce and cutting edge technologies for the advancement of the Company Enterprise. The Design Center provides engineering support to Enterprise wide projects/programs and is a flexible team that strategically adapts to emerging opportunities.

Position Responsibilities:
o Develops, integrates and documents structural and interior payload system requirements to establish the system design.
o Develops, maintains and modifies basic structural and interior payload system and component designs, using 3-D Computer Aided Design tools and/or other design methods, to provide product definition to other engineering groups, production operations, suppliers and external customers throughout the product lifecycle.
o Performs tests to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications.
o Performs supplier development, test and production activities and coordinates with the supplier to optimize the design and achieve program goals.
o Investigates emerging technologies to develop concepts for future product designs to meet projected requirements.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
o Experience in Model Based Definition.
o Experience in structural design process from conceptual layout phase through build-to package release.
o Experience in leading a structural design team through product development.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
o CREO, CATIA, Enovia, NX CAD and Teamcenter PDM skills.
o Experience in utilization of new materials.
o Experience with design development and sustaining of Lift Equipment
o Experience with detailed design of large, portable work platforms
o Project Management including tracking metrics, reporting project status, working across integrated teams to complete a task, communication with suppliers and customers.

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
