Guidance Navigation Control

Description:
Description: Applies knowledge of engineering principles and techniques in order to develop guidance, navigation and control systems for aircraft, missiles and spacecraft. Evaluates system level requirements to support flight control and mission or trajectory requirements definition. Establishes guidance, navigation and control system design requirements to support design realization. Translates functional requirements into specifications (hardware or software) and designs, specifies and evaluates systems and architectures to comply with company, customer and regulatory requirements. Creates plans, schedules and procedures for tests of Guidance Navigation Control (GNC), subcomponents and integrated vehicle systems and performs test data analysis to validate system against design requirements and objective. Develops cost and time effective, creative solutions and disposition of issues to assure customer satisfaction. Restriction: Refer to 'Engineer Job Classifications Appendix' for further clarification on the use of this job family. In locations where SPEEA representation applies, this job family will be covered by the terms of the collective bargaining agreement.

Additional description (Level 4): Gathers, defines and documents system level requirements and investigates actions necessary for requirements definition and flow-down improvement. Performs and documents design of Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) systems and guides experienced engineers in performance of the designs. Develops GNC and mathematical tools and techniques and aids in developing Technology roadmaps. Performs or directs test data analysis and documentation. Presents findings of compliance to regulatory agencies, negotiates certification basis in alignment project goals, simulation and design review per FAA, MIL-SPEC and NASA guidance. Trains and coaches others. Works under minimal direction.
