Position Purpose:
The Avionics/Electrical Technician I plays a critical role in ensuring the proper functioning of avionics and electrical systems on aircraft. Under supervision, this position assists in troubleshooting, repairing, and testing electrical and avionics systems to meet Engineering specifications and maintenance manuals. The technician will also be responsible for performing basic installations and repairs, ensuring systems meet conformity and quality standards. The role requires a focus on safety, efficiency, and maintaining high-quality standards while minimizing impact on project schedules.
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Troubleshooting and Testing:
    • Demonstrates basic technical skills in avionics and aircraft systems operational testing and troubleshooting to ensure systems function correctly.
    • Perform system checks to identify discrepancies, document findings, and assist in corrective actions to minimize downtime.
  • Installation and Functional Testing:
    • Under supervision, installs and tests electrical and avionics components and systems according to Engineering specifications, blueprints, schematic diagrams, and maintenance manuals.
    • Ensure all installations meet quality standards, ensuring systems are defect-free and operational.
    • Process Improvement and Efficiency:
      • Assists in ensuring the quality and efficiency of all installations and repairs.
      • Troubleshoots processes to provide timely, quality repairs of malfunctioning systems, identifying areas for improvement to reduce cost without compromising safety or quality.
      • Component Repair and Replacement:
        • Acquires and demonstrates the skills needed to repair or replace defective components and wiring, ensuring installations meet conformity standards.
        • Use effective repair techniques, including splicing, soldering, and pinning of wiring, following industry best practices.
        • Engineering Changes and Modifications:
          • Perform and comply with required engineering changes and modifications to aircraft electrical and avionics systems as directed.
          • Update and document modifications as necessary to maintain accurate records.
          • Test Equipment Setup and Operation:
            • Assist in the setup and operation of necessary test equipment for functional and operational testing of avionics and electrical systems.
            • Conduct tests to evaluate the performance, functionality, and reliability of systems and components.
            • Documentation and Compliance:
              • Under supervision, ensure that all work performed on aircraft is properly documented and ready for inspection.
              • Maintain accurate records of all tests, repairs, and modifications to ensure compliance with company and regulatory standards.
              • Test Equipment and Maintenance:
                • Test and maintain test equipment, ensuring they are functional and properly calibrated.
                • Conduct preventive maintenance on test equipment to guarantee reliable performance.
                • Compliance with Safety and Company Programs:
                  • Adhere to the company’s Foreign Object Debris (FOD) program, tool control program, 5-S program, and all safety regulations.
                  • Ensure the workspace is clean, organized, and free from hazards to maintain a safe working environment. 
                    Additional Functions:
                    • Aircraft Certification and Testing Support:
                      • In support of aircraft certification and final phase testing, may include assisting with flight tests on aircraft as required.
                    • Other Duties:
                      • Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors or team leads to support operational needs and contribute to team success. 
                        Other Requirements:
                        • Physical Requirements:
                          • Ability to climb stairs and ladders, work in confined areas, and lift up to 50 pounds.
                          • Ability to stand, kneel, and work in various positions for extended periods during repairs and installations.
                        • Knowledge and Skills:
                          • Ability to read and interpret basic blueprints, schematic diagrams, and technical documents to support electrical and avionics system work.
                          • Basic understanding of electrical circuits, avionics systems, and troubleshooting techniques.
                          • Communication Skills:
                            • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language to accurately follow instructions, complete documentation, and communicate with team members.
                            • Technical Skills:
                              • Basic proficiency with avionics systems, test equipment, and electronic components.
                              • Knowledge of electrical principles and troubleshooting methods.
                              • Safety and Compliance:
                                • Commitment to following safety protocols and adhering to industry and company standards.
                                • Ability to ensure all work meets regulatory requirements and maintain compliance during all phases of work. 
                                  Qualifications:
                                  • Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
                                  • Experience:
                                    • 2 years related work experience or 2 years of accredited schooling in aviation electronics.
                                  • Skills:
                                    • Ability to read and interpret basic blueprints and schematic diagrams.
                                    • Familiarity with avionics systems, electrical components, and operational testing.

                                      Pay Details: $25.66 per hour
