SR. Program Engineer

Responsible for working with the Sales, Materials and Manufacturing teams to develop customer quotes as well as preparing product routings, BOM’s and all documentation necessary to release new products into manufacturing to meet our on-time performance and quality goals. Acts as the subject matter expert for the product or technology to which they are assigned.  Uses project management skills to bring products from design to production.

REPORTS TO:   NPI and Program Engineering Manager

  • Work closely with Sales personnel to help establish a line of direct communication (as may be required) with our customer for technical and business issues. 
  • Prepare routings and technical information for quotations when a formal proposal is required.
  • Review projects to assure that the pricing, lead-time, quality concerns, etc. taken into consideration to achieve the best possible win ratio, prior to review/approval by the Management Team.
  • Review customer drawings to best determine customer quality notes and flow downs to meet compliance requirements
  • Provide technical leadership and engineering support to the Customer Focused Team and operations as required.
  • Will establish and maintain ongoing communications with customers
  • Will establish and maintain ongoing communication and relationships with engineering focals at other Celestica divisions
  • Work with Manufacturing Engineers and Technicians to support new product development and introduction of new products to Manufacturing.
  • Resolve engineering related issues affecting manufacturing. Implement containment actions, determine root cause, design and implement final corrective actions.
  • Address product-related customer and quality issues and design enhancements to meet customer needs and to support cost reduction programs.
  • Address electronic, electrical, and electro-mechanical component related issues. Work with Purchasing and component vendors to develop component specifications and alternate source requirements.
  • Using manufacturing software, develop detailed drawings, routings, BOM’s, and tooling necessary to support the transfer of new products into production.
  • Writes and implements ECO’s and RFC’s.
  • Provide technical leadership of diverse engineering disciplines, project planning, and provide technical solutions to customer requirements including, but not limited to, ITAR/EAR/EAR99 classifications, communication for customer configurations, and ultimate program execution following contract award ensuring 100% compliance with the Departments of State and Commerce.  Will also participate in ongoing team meetings to identify requirements, specifications, export classifications, timelines and customer expectations.
  • Some travel may be required.

  • Bachelor Degree in an Engineering field
  • Minimum of 3 years related experience in Electronics Manufacturing environment
  • Experience in new product quoting and process development required
  • High aptitude for CAD, MS Office and database applications required
  • Experience in medical, aerospace, medical or automotive manufacturing preferred
  • Demonstrated proficiency for oral and written communication
