Quality Assurance Engineer – Resident Engineer

PDS Tech, Inc. is seeking a Quality Assurance Engineer – Resident Engineer
 in Normal, IL 

Overview
Provides quality assurance support to our client’s OEM customers.

Responsibilities
  • Provide on-sight support to our client’s OEM customers, by:
  • Performing initial analysis of our client’s products at customer’s site to support Ford Global 8D Corrective Actions.
  • Assisting customers with in-vehicle analysis of our client’s products at customer’s site to support Ford Global 8D Corrective Actions.
  • Providing support of field return analysis, by monitoring and reviewing daily and periodic warranty claims through Ford’s AWS to support field quality concerns.
  • Providing and/or supporting containment actions at customer site.
  • Interfacing with customer to support Ford Global 8D Corrective Actions.
  • Communicating with other facilities, located globally.  This may require e-mail and at times, direct phone calls to other facilities in USA, Japan or China.
  • Monitor and review quality status on Ford SIMS, daily.
  • This position requires possible travel to other customer facilities, or other facilities in the USA or overseas, for the purpose of training or to provide quality support to a customer, to address quality related concerns.
  • This position may require overtime and work on weekends / holidays to support customer’s quality concerns.
  • Adhere to, and support CCA’s ISO9001:2008 Quality System.
  • Interface with customer to manage customer satisfaction, by providing on-sight support to the client’s Corporation of America’s customers. 
  • In addition, all tasks as assigned from time to time by the Director, PD Quality Assurance. 
  • Participate in special projects such as: Quality System issues, or general quality administrative related duties, etc. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements  
  • A bachelor’s degree in electronics or four years of professional experience in a technical field specializing in automotive electro-mechanical devices or military equivalent and four years of quality assurance experience with an OEM manufacturer or supplier (Ford preferred). 
  • Quality assurance / reliability background or a reliability degree, is highly desired.
  • Good oral and written communications skills, with a professional business manner. 
  • Be assertive and able to work efficiently with minimal supervision. 
  • Working knowledge of common office PC software and an aptitude with electro-mechanical devices.  
  • A working knowledge of such quality tools as: 8-Ds, Control Plans, Work Instructions.
  • A background in Ford Motor Company quality system is highly desired.


Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of jobs in an office setting.  Position involves sitting and standing most of the time, with walking required frequently. Position requires ability to exert minimal force of up to 10 pounds frequently and minimal force of up to 40 pounds to carry, lift, push, pull and otherwise move objects occasionally.  (Example: filing, sorting of papers, putting away office supplies, lifting notebook binder, etc.)  Have physical ability to sustain movements, especially of fingers, wrists, hands, and arms (Example:  Creating documents/entering data via typing, which requires operation of full keyboard).  Good hearing, vision and hand-eye coordination are a plus.  Additional activity may include, dependent on the position and business needs, travel, both by air and car.
