Structural Design Engineer

Description:
Role Overview:
This role requires a strong fundamental understanding of composite aircraft structures, composite materials and processes, and structural hand analysis.

Responsibilities:
• The engineer will be responsible for conceptual layouts as well as preliminary and detailed design and analysis of primary and secondary aircraft structures.
• They will design and conduct structural tests and support manufacturing throughout fabrication and assembly of the aircraft.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• 5 + years of experience designing and analyzing aerospace structures
• Proficiency with hand and finite element analysis of aerospace structures
• Familiarity with composite materials and processes, tooling, layup and assembly techniques
• Demonstrated proficiency with Solidworks
• Experience developing test plans and conducting component and assembly level structural tests
• Excellent communication skills, ability to interface effectively with different engineering groups internally as well as existing and potential suppliers
• An undergraduate degree in Electrical, Aerospace, or Mechanical Engineering is required

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Hands on composite fabrication experience
• Prototype aircraft program experience
• Familiarity with FAR part 23 and part 25 requirements
• Materials testing and certification experience
• Aircraft structure certification experience
• A master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred
• Pilot's license and/or Aircraft Mechanic (A&P) license is a strong plus
