Stress Engineer

Description:
Stress Engineer reports to the Engineering Manager the Stress Engineer designs and tests processes for the manufacturing of systems and components. Performs complex assignments often requiring development of new or improved products, processes, and techniques; assesses feasibility and soundness of proposed engineering tests, products, equipment; and interprets principles, theories, and concepts of an engineering specialty.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Prepare structural substantiation documents which include stress analysis, static test plans, static test results, interface loads analysis and comparative analysis.
• Review all relevant technical specifications for the project.
• Generate finite element models or rigid body analysis using Nastran (or equivalent software).
• Consistently communicate with Program/Engineering Managers and Project Engineers to provide structural feedback and status their portion of the project.
• Experience in structural analysis of composites and metals.
• Experience in generating static test plans & reports.
• Experience in simplifying complex structural engineering problems with simple 2 D free-body-diagram and performing comparative analysis.
• Contributes to successful project completion by participating in the resolution of issues such as conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of standard material, and difficult coordination requirements.
• Coordinates project activities with other operating or engineering units to facilitate participation of appropriate staff in project completion.
• Reviews project-related documentation to ensure its accuracy.
• Assists in determining project objectives to contribute to the development of a comprehensive project design.
• Performs other related duties as required.


• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field from a four-year college or university
• Three (3) years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Detailed hand calculations experience.
• Experience using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) methods.
• Must possess extensive knowledge of engineering principles, classical stress analysis techniques and analytical substantiation methods.
• NASTRAN, Patran, or FEMAP experience.
