Summary:
Working from engineering drawings, written work instructions and process specifications, employee will assemble structural and precision mechanical components in a shop environment. Tasks will include but are not limited to: Installation and torqueing of fasteners, drilling, installation of rivets, adhesive bonding, measurement and shimming interfaces to close tolerances. Aerospace paint, aerospace primer and other aerospace coating application using spray, brush, swab techniques. Surface prep, using grit blast, hand abrade and power abrasion techniques. Pre-prep and wet layup fabrication techniques, including vacuum bag processing, bonding, and oven/autoclave curing. Tooling fabrication from various materials such as aluminum, composites, and wood. Working with small shop power tools (saws, routers, sanders, and grinders). Machine shop equipment operation (mill, lathe, table saw, band saw, etc.) Assembly of composite structures including setup, bonding, and fastener applications. Operation of measuring devices such as calipers, height gauges, micrometers, and torque wrenches. Performs a variety of duties in the electronic mechanical electromechanical or optical areas. Constructs troubleshoots calibrates adjusts tests and maintains equipment components devices or systems. Works from engineering drawings and written or verbal instructions. Operates related equipment; conducts tests and reports data in prescribed format. Performs calibration and alignment checks; makes adjustments modifications and replacements as directed; prepares prescribed compounds and solutions
