Description:

JOB TITLE: Aircraft Upholstery Technician II

LOCATION: Savannah GA

PAY RATE: $25.65 per hour

Details:

    12-month contract with opportunities for extension

Summary:

    Fabricate and install upholstery, cover panels, and create simple patterns for aircraft interiors using design/engineering drawings and aircraft specifications under minimal supervision.

    Fabricate and install flat panels and curtains according to design and engineering drawings and aircraft specifications.

    Sew simple covers as needed using design specifications.

    Work with various materials (fabric, vinyl, leather, composites) using specified adhesives, sewing equipment, hardware, hand tools, and power tools.

    Cut and surge carpets, cover bulkheads, and install panels.

    Fabricate metal parts and fit panels, windows, cabin headliners, upper sidewalls, lower side panels, hatch panels, and windows.

    Use the material tracking system to create parts demands, track issues, and sign off on completed work.

    Collaborate with lead and senior technicians to develop process improvements that enhance safety, reduce costs, cycle time, and man-hours using Lean Manufacturing techniques.

    Comply with safety, 5S, and housekeeping policies, using personal protective equipment as required.

    Address unsafe conditions proactively to ensure workplace safety.

    Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills:

    High School Diploma or GED required.

    Two (2) years of experience using commercial sewing machines, sergers, and various hand tools in upholstery and carpet trades.

    Experience in the aerospace industry preferred.

    Proficient in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English.

    Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering documentation.

    Competent in using measuring tools and performing basic math computations.

    Must be computer literate.

    Able to climb ladders and stairs, work in confined spaces, lift up to 40 pounds, and work any shift.
