Mechanical Drafter

Description:
Mechanical Drafter / Designer
Entry level position to provide design/drafting (CAD) support to the Motors Engineering team for
Engineering Change Orders (ECN’s), and for new product development.

Responsibilities

• Use CAD (typically SolidWorks) equipment and software to create and revise production drawings (detail and assembly drawings).
• May convert existing production or engineering drawings to SolidWorks.
• Complete Red Line markups from ECNs.
• Ensure documentation compliance with applicable military and industrial standards.
• May require the use of basic measurement equipment to create models from existing parts
• Update bills of materials using various design and product data management tools (Solid Works, EPDM) and Enterprise Resource Planning (Infor-Visual) systems.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Conforms to all company policies and department procedures.

Customer/Vendor Work Relationships
• Provides technical assistance to support sales and customers
• Engineering: Leads and/or assists in the successful completion of assigned work.
• Manufacturing: Provides technical support as needed to manufacture products.
• Finance: Provides technical support as needed relative to product costing.

Physical Requirements
Job requires sitting at a desk doing normal office work, including ‘Teams’ communications and using a computer. Also involves standing and walking in an office and a manufacturing facility. May be required to assist in production and testing of new products or product improvements.

Education / Experience
• High School/Trade School or equivalent graduate with 1-3 year minimum in Design/CAD
• Reasonable knowledge of electrical mechanical systems
• Reasonable knowledge of modern manufacturing processes and methodologies
• Experience with 2D and 3D CAD systems (Solid Works, preferred)
• Reasonable knowledge and use of MS Office Suite
• Experience in a LEAN environment a plus
• Good oral and written communication skills are essential
