Systems Safety Engineer (Mil-std-882)

Description:
o Support the program by developing hazard analyses, software safety assessments, hazardous material management planning and execution.
o Analyze and recommend safety criteria in system design, equipment and procedures to control or eliminate hazards.
o Prepare and deliver presentations at technical reviews and customer briefings.
o Flow down system safety requirements to suppliers and verify design implementation.
o Assist in requirements development and verification.
o Reviews specifications, technical documentation, and design changes for impacts to system safety.
o Support customer and test/operational range requirements o Participates in the development of testing activities to ensure safety requirements are satisfied.
o Prepare technical documentation and presentation material to support various independent safety board meetings to gain approval on system design.
o Participates in accident investigations involving damage to products or related facilities and assists in identification of causes and corrective actions.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
o Experience developing and implementing a System Safety Program IAW MIL-STD-882 o Developing and evaluating system safety requirements o Familiarity with implementing a Software Safety Program IAW AOP-52 and DoD guidelines o Proficient knowledge of MIL-STD-882 and its associated analyses o Strong written and oral communication skills o Ability to make formal presentations to large groups o Interacts well in a team atmosphere with engineers, suppliers, program managers and customers

EDUCATION:
Accredited Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in an engineering discipline
