ECS Manager

Description:
General Summary:

The ECS Manager manages the technical, cost and schedule and personnel aspects of the Environmental Control Systems (Pneumatic System, Pressurization System, Air Conditioning, Cabin Pressure Control System, Leak Detection System, Oxygen System, and Waste System) through all phases of design, development, certification, production, and product support. Ensures all aspects of design are compliant with the system requirements document.



Duties and Responsibilities:

Oversees and coordinates the ECS project activities through all phases of design, development, certification, production, and production support.
Maintains and presents to senior management the integrated project schedule and status for the Environmental Control Systems.
Tracks and reports status of action items related to design, development, certification, and flight test related for the ECS.
Prepares and maintains functional test procedures to test the ECS sub-systems as installed on the aircraft.
Prepares and maintains functional interface control document(s) that identify the integration requirements between the ECS sub-systems and the aircraft avionics / electrical power system.
Prepares and maintains regression test procedures to test the avionics/electrical power system integration of the ECS sub-systems.
Conducts regression tests to ensure that the ECS sub-systems are integrated into the avionics / electrical power system per the released requirements.
Prepares, maintains, and tracks issue reports associated with the ECS sub-systems to closure/resolution.
Provides technical and logistical assistance to manufacturing and flight test to resolve any technical issues associated with the ECS.
Prepares/reviews qualification test procedures and qualification test reports associated with the ECS.
Establishes qualification test schedules with the supplier of the ECS components and coordinates Designated Engineering Representative (DER) support.
Reviews and coordinates complex hardware / software deliverables between the supplier, HAC and the DERs.
May serve as the DER for the applicable delegations.
Supports the creation of the certification plan for the ECS.
Manages personnel by assigning and monitoring tasks so that they are done on time and are complete and accurate.
Conducts performance evaluations for personnel and creates, implements and monitors personnel development plans.












Education, Work Experience, Certification and/or Licensure:

Bachelors degree in Engineering or related field required.
8 years of leadership experience in one or more of the Environment Control Systems including: design; development: aircraft integration, and certification.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Experience in managing personnel.
Strong organizational skills.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Strong presentational skills.
Familiarity with aircraft/aerospace wiring practices and the ability to interpret wiring diagrams and electrical schemata.
Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suites (Word, Excel, Project Management, Lotus Notes, PowerPoint).
Strong working knowledge of DO-160, DO-178B and DO-254 processes are required,
Knowledge of aircraft communication buses such as ARINC 429 strongly preferred.
Strong working knowledge of FAA processes and procedures related to qualification testing.
Strong working knowledge of 14CFR23 or 25 and advisory circulars related to ECS regulations.
Experience in supporting manufacturing of aircraft from a technical standpoint.
Experience in preparing detailed functional test procedures.
Experience in creating Crew Alerting System (CAS) logic.
Experience in preparing/reviewing qualification test procedures for DO-160 tests required.
Experience in preparing or reviewing FAA certification plans is required.
