Description:
This position will be responsible for controls systems design, specification, programming, simulation and testing, and overall technical leadership.
Responsibilities would include conceptual/system level design, detailed hardware/software design & implementation, leading support teams to design in accordance with customer requirements/expectations.
The ideal Controls Engineering candidate will need to have a proven track record in developing and implementing standard engineering practices in the design of control panels within the Oil & Gas, Energy, or Petrochemical industries. The candidate would need to be a self-starter, good communicator and highly motivated individual willing to work in a fast paced business.
Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering or Computer Science from an accredited university with a minimum of 5-years technical experience. In-depth knowledge of rotating equipment applications and current knowledge of PLC and HMI programming and software validation techniques required.
Job-Specific Requirements:
Panel design and General Equipment layout, Bill of Materials creation, and wiring schematic capabilities are expected with this position. The candidate will need to understand and produce red-line engineering drawings in addition to selecting controls equipment in accordance with customer specifications.
PLC logic and programming is a requirement for the candidate with as much of the following experience as possible: Allen Bradley, Modicon, GE Fanuc, Siemens and Triconex. HMI or SCADA programming and configuration of any of the following software packages Wonderware, Rockwell, Intellution, GE Cimplicity, Ci-Tech, Iconics, Siemens, US Data, etc.
Working knowledge of Industry codes with significant experience pertaining to the following is crucial: IEC, NEC, CE, UL, CSA, Hazardous Area Classification, ATEX, ISA and API codes.
Understanding and development of Engineering documentation such as I/O lists, Cause & Effect, Control Narratives and Functional Design Specifications is essential for this position.
