Senior Composite Design Engineer – Thrust Reversers

Location: Chula Vista, CA

12+ month contract

Job Summary: Design and develop composite and/or metal aero-structure nacelle components and assemblies.

Qualifications: Must be able to perform each essential function and have education, skills and experience listed below.

Mandatory Keywords in Resume: Design / Engineer /Composite / CATIA / CPD OR Fibersim / Aerospace OR Aircraft

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
•Design, develop and update aircraft nacelle components and assemblies with CATIA V5
•Effectively use Fibersim OR CATIA CPD Composite Workbench proficiently with no significant learning curve
•Create 3D Solids, compound contour surfaces, MBD, drawings and complex composite laminate sandwich parts

MINIMUM Education and Experience
•Minimum of ABET approved Bachelor degree in aerospace, mechanical, civil or structural engineering. Masters preferred
•Minimum of 10 years’ equivalent experience in design of aero-structure parts, at least 2 years using CATIA CPD OR Fibersim
•5 years’ experience creating composite laminate primary structure or structurally significant secondary structure
•Strong familiarity with composite laminate tables, ply families and rationale and logic behind developing them
•In-depth understanding of design principals and guidelines for efficient, well designed aerospace polymeric composites

Preferred Experience and Interpersonal Skills
•Experience in design of nacelle and thrust reverser components and mechanisms preferred
•Strong interpersonal skills and a very high degree of collaboration at all levels required
•Demonstrated ability to multitask with strong task orientation and attention to critical details required
•Ability to coordinate with people in different project teams and functional roles required
•Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal required
•Be a collaborative, cooperative, creative, insightful, high energy self-directed and thoughtful considerate team player
•Ability to work independently, be insightful, resourceful and innovative and willing to do whatever work is assigned

Required Computer Skills
•Expertise with CATIA v5, r23 – MIN 6000 hrs
•Significant experience using and trouble shooting Vistagy Fibersim OR CATIA Composite Workbench CPD – MIN 3000 hrs
•Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: None Required Except Diploma for BENG Degree or higher in Mech, Aero, Civil, or Structural.
