Project Engineer

Description:
Candidate shall provide Lead Project Engineer Support services in support of the SLS programs Production Engineering Tooling activities. The tasks may include but are not limited to: The development and procurement of all production tooling (responsible for directing the day-to-day operations required for tool procurement). Identification of all required production tooling (in coordination with both Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering). Development of production tool development/delivery schedules to support program needs (in coordination with Integrated Scheduling). Development of production tool requirements and concept designs (in coordination with Manufacturing Engineering and with support from Tool Design.) Oversight of production tool design, fabrication, testing, and delivery (in coordination with the Strategic Fabrication Center and/or tool Suppliers, and with support from Tool Design). Support development of all required production tool maintenance plans and schedules (both routine and remedial). Report detailed production tooling status to Management, the Program, and the Customer.

Required: Candidate must have 10 years of experience in defense/space manufacturing operations for Space Flight Hardware. Prior experience with and/or knowledge of factory tooling and/or GSE/PSE development. Prior experience with manufacturing processes such as welding/weld operations, critical lifts, large section transportation and assembly/mating, etc. Prior experience in project management including: Schedule development and status; Development, maintenance, and status reporting of Technical Performance Measures (TPMs); Identification, maintenance, and reporting of Risks, Issues, and Opportunities (RIOs). Familiarity with tool design and tool engineering. Experience in briefing detailed status to program management. Ability to access and/or operate hardware and equipment which may, at times, necessitate the ability to climb stairs or ladders, bend down or reach overhead; Capability to work any shift and overtime as required; Ability to obtain and maintain badge access to/for NASA facilities; Ability to comply with this positions Sensitive/Safety-Sensitive requirements, if required: NASA (DOT) random drug and alcohol testing.

Candidate will work with Buyer’s Manufacturing, Assembly, & Operations organization and deliver high quality plans, records and reports in support of the Development and Assembly efforts. Candidate needs to be able to work various shifts and/or an alternate baseline schedule that may frequently change to support mission requirements and may include weekends and holidays.
