Stress Analyst

Description:
We are seeking an experienced and versatile Structures Analyst to join our team. You will have a strong fundamental understanding of aircraft structures, load paths, structural analysis and design, and both hand analysis and FEA skills. You will be able to simplify solutions to complex problems and explain design choices making use of free-body diagrams. You will be able to work in a fast-paced environment, at times without the standard tools and processes available in larger organizations.

Main Responsibilities:
• Work hand-in-hand with the aircraft Structures lead to write final margin reports on various aircraft zones in preparation for Flight Readiness Review.
• Conduct structural analysis independently using classical hand analysis techniques and FEA.
• Create and modify existing Finite Element Models of the aircraft Structure using Femap software.
• Provide design recommendations based on analysis results.
• Communicate effectively across engineering disciplines.

Qualifications:
• Previous experience with full zone stress ownership/responsibility on a development aircraft.
• A Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace, Engineering, or related experience is required.
• 5-15 years’ experience in aircraft structural analysis.
• Demonstrated experience creating finite element models and analyzing composite and metallic components and structures, including linear, buckling, nonlinear, and modal analysis.
• Femap/Nastran experience required.
• Experience with industry standard hand analysis techniques such as those found in Bruhn, Niu, Flabel, and CMH-17.
• Demonstrated experience in key technical disciplines: metallic & composite materials, material & processes, load path, stress, finite element modeling.
• Problem-solving leadership skills are a must; can lead a team through solving hard, complex, ambiguous technical problems.
• Team building communication skills, the ability to interface effectively with different groups internally and externally.

It would be awesome if you had:
• Analysis of composite airframe primary structure, including bonded joints, bolted joints, solid laminates, and sandwich panels.
• Knowledge of analysis methods typically employed in large OEMs.
• Experience in a fast-paced prototyping environment.
• Experience supporting structural tests and correlating predicted and actual results.
• Coupon and element level structural testing experience.
• 14 CFR Part 23 or 25 certification experience.
