Aeronautical Engineer

Job Description:
1. Flight Test Engineer for Navy F-35 test aircraft at Patuxent River NAS, Maryland.
2. The successful applicant will provide Ground and Flight Operations engineering support.
3. Tasks will include coordination and execution of pre-flight and post-flight activities to ensure aircraft's test readiness including issuance, and closure of documentation relating to work performed on the aircraft, and coordination of aircraft modifications.
4. Position may be responsible for control and tracking of aircraft configuration, coordinating and staging of support equipment, and coordinating with other organizations associated with test readiness.
5. Tasks include planning and executing weapons test flights, supporting test flight briefings/debriefings, providing real time control room monitoring of weapons related test flights, requesting/analyzing post-flight data, and supporting weapons system anomaly resolution as well as on-aircraft troubleshooting of weapons related hardware.
6. May also include support flight science (Flying Qualities/Performance/Structural Loads/Structural Dynamics) flight test, providing real time control room monitoring support of the STOVL and CV flight test aircraft, conducting pre-flight predictions and post flight data requests, and supporting flight test anomaly resolution and correlation of predictive aerodynamic databases with measured flight test data.

This position will work with maintenance and engineering personnel. The ability to interface with all levels of project management is desired.
1. Developing and publishing test plans and flight test cards,
2. Determining and communicating aircraft test requirements and configuration to responsible engineering, maintenance, instrumentation, and flight operations personnel to ensure aircraft readiness,
3. Complying with published test safety plans and standard operating procedures,
4. Conducting test missions and performing test mission briefings and debriefings, after meeting qualification requirements.
5. Evaluating results from flight activities and incorporating 'lessons learned' into future test activities.
6. 'Must be a US Citizen or legally authorized to work in US as a permanent resident. This position is located at a facility that requires special access.'
7. Position requires an interim secret clearance to start.

Desired skills
1. Demonstrated Verbal and Written Communication skills along with experience in LM applications and electronic tools: ALIS, JEDI, PDM, and JDL and wiring diagrams; aircraft ground test experience.
2. Plus to have a Bachelor's degree.
3. MATLAB experience
4. Proficient programmer and tool developer in FORTRAN, VBA, or C/C++.
5. Experience working with UNIX/LINUX based workstations.
