Liaison Stress Engineers - Commercial or Military Aircraft

Description:
We are looking for Stress Analysts / Stress Engineers who have a background doing Liaison support on structural repair/maintenance of in-service aircraft structures and components.
MUST BE US PERSONS
Must have:
BS degree
Airframe Structural Analysis experience
Extensive Classical Analysis background required

Develops and provides engineering solutions for the overhaul and repair of large transport aircraft structural components, requiring a sound knowledge of the principles, theories, and concepts that are consistent with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) regulations. Technical foundation to perform approvals of single and multi-use repair packages, and manage product center workflow and schedules,. Manage projects and special assignments with little to no supervision. May function as a team lead for less experienced engineers.

Essential Functions and Key Responsibilities:

Reviews damage reports to develop repair schemes, authors work instructions, and performs the stress analysis and substantiation supporting the repair with no supervision. Repair development and substantiation will include a variety of analysis methods and require an established knowledge of mechanically fastened metallic structure, adhesively bonded metallic structure, composite structure, welding, and brazing. Developed repairs must be substantiated to meet or exceed the original design certification requirements.

Established knowledge of, and ability to apply repair analysis techniques such as Boeing Structures I and II, ABARIS/Laminate Plate Theory, Bruhn, Flabel, ETC. Develops and substantiates complex repair schemes with no supervision.

Working knowledge of FAA and EASA regulations, AD’s, NPRM’s, AC’s, AMC’s, SDR’s, EWIS, etc. Other aviation authority knowledge such as CAAC/JAA/JCAB is a plus.

Performs technical review and approval of less experienced engineer’s repair packages.

Mentoring less experienced engineers, co-ops, and interns and may be responsible leading direct reports.

Manages projects and/or product centers with little to no supervision.

Develop and/or peer review multi-use repair specifications, drawings, and engineering reports.

Review and interpret technical documents such as Drawings, Structural Repair Manuals (SRM’s), Component Maintenance Manuals (CMM’s), Illustrated Parts Lists (IPL’s/IPC’s), Material Specifications, Process Specifications, etc.

Develop and/or approve repair data packages and obtain FAA approvals through internal and external FAA Designated Engineering Representatives (DER’s).

Communicate and interact with Airbus and Boeing engineering for repair development support, as well as coordinate customer engineering approvals of developed repair schemes.

Troubleshoot failure modes and interact with shop mechanics to develop cost effective repairs that are feasible to accomplish in a timely manner that supports production schedule.

Above average verbal and written skills, ability to tailor communication to technical and non-technical audiences.
