Power Design Systems Engineer

Description:
Responsibilities:

Development of Power Systems. Power Systems include generation, storage, distribution, and management.
Develop product fabrication hardware/software requirements and test plans/reports for validation.
Ensure the power system design has been fully defined, properly sized, traceable, and validated during testing down to the components and software.
Support lab testing and on vehicle trouble shooting and issue resolution tasks.
Ensure all of their deliverables are completed on-time and with quality. 
Design, develop and support of the intelligent electrical power distribution and management systems for military vehicles.
Responsible for collecting/reviewing the customer requirements and component interface control documents (ICD’s) and developing / mapping and managing the power load schedule / distribution.
Responsible for creating and drawing power system architectures and schematics using Capital Logic software or CAMEO.
Responsible for power CAE analysis of the power system generation and distribution – using ANSYS or Matlab / Simulink
Responsible for writing the electrical power system design requirements, and interface control documents.
Support the electrical power hardware component development.
Design and development of the test requirements, test plans and test procedures for the power system.
Create custom CAN power system networks physical layer design.
Responsible for testing power distribution and management systems and their associated power distribution hardware components and creating reports on findings. 
Troubleshoot the vehicle electrical power systems and power system hardware for failures using Vector suite tools or other testing devices.
Support CAE analysis for wire/connector sizing.
Gather technical information, analyze technical problems, develop technical solutions, and implement technical solutions.
Conduct and/or participate in peer reviews of schematics and other drawings, specifications/requirements, interface control documents, I/O matrices, etc., as required.
Participate in various trade studies when available.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
5+ years in a related role.
Experience with electrical power systems (power generation, power distribution, power management, energy storage) on automotive or military vehicles, including the specification, development, design, testing, integration, and troubleshooting of vehicle electrical power systems and their associated hardware components is required.
Familiarity with various communication busses, especially experience with CAN bus, along with the ability to troubleshoot CAN bus related issues associated with hardware components of electrical power systems, is required.
Experience in Analog and Digital Circuit Design of high power (28, 270, 600 Vdc) switching components/electronics, DC/DC converters, inverters, and motor controllers is desired.
Familiarity with many of the following required: power switching devices, power control devices, motor control devices, high power electronics, serial data busses (especially CAN bus), microprocessors, single board computers, digital I/O cards, analog I/O cards, and embedded systems.
Must be able to use engineering development and test tools independently as required.
Able to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
Must be able to handle task conflict and ambiguity and work with minimum supervision.
Ability to travel up to 5% to other facilities and military installations if needed.
Proficient in MS Office suite.
Experience with CAE tools for system modeling.
Experience with hardware in the loop and software in the loop bench level testing.
Experience using Vector Suite testing products including CANoe CAPL for testing interfaces.
Knowledge of J1939 CAN standard.
Familiarity with Teamcenter / Vismockup.
Preferred Qualifications: 
Previous experience working on ground combat Vehicles desired.
This position may require the candidate to be able to climb on/off, work in, and work around military vehicles is desired. Must be able to pass ASR test (Anthropometric Size Requirement for confined space).
Work environment will consist of prototype shop, laboratory, manufacturing and office.
Able to work overtime when required.
Able to bring continuous improvement processes and methodologies to the position. Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills is required. Works well in team and individually.
Must be able to work occasional evening and/or weekend overtime as required.
