Systems Engineer III - Electrical-GSE

PDS Tech, Inc. is seeking a Systems Engineer III - Electrical-GSE, in Louisville, CO:

We are seeking a Systems Engineer with a bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering or a related Engineering field and at least 6 years of relevant experience. What to look forward to:
As a Systems Engineer, you will be using your skills and expertise to design, plan, and develop new system requirements using logical and systematic conversions of our product requirements into total systems solutions. You'll be responsible for conceptualizing and delivering difficult and complex system designs. You're technical responsibilities during planning, organizing and conducting projects involves the design and development of new system specifications, input/output processes and hardware/software compatibility.

  • Understanding of Requirements, CONOPS and Architecture/Design for ground support equipment
  • Electrical engineering experience e.g. EEE parts, power analysis, power and signal cabling, RF, etc
  • Experience creating, modifying and maintaining system drawing packages (rack elevations, schematics, cable maps,
  • interconnect, logic, block diagrams, etc)
  • Experience with Engineering design processes (preliminary and final design and with the design review process.)
  • Experience working with commercial–off-the-shelf (COTS) equipment including signal generators, network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, power meters, computers, servers, network, and storage etc.
  • Experience with Engineering life cycle processes and procedures
  • Possess CAD skills in one or more of the following: SolidWorks 2014,NX 8.5, Creo 3.0, Catia V5 R26
  • Experience with LabVIEW development
  • Experience with Equipment – System start up procedures
  • Understand principles of Workstation and Equipment rack design
  • Proficiency with PC based MS Office products such as Word, Visio and Excel
  • Knowledgeable in the areas of VME and PCI Interfaces
  • Possess good oral and written communication skills; and be self-motivated in performance of duties with limited supervision
  • Familiar with System analysis (FEA, thermal, Acoustic, Center of Gravity and Environmental (lighting, EMI/EMC)
  • Familiar with Safety Hazard Analysis mitigation and Functional Failure Modes and Effects Analysis
  • Select, initiate the procurement process, installation, checkout, and acceptance test of hardware and custom software (s/w) components
  • Support development of test plans and procedures, conduct of end item verification and validation
  • Understand, plan, and execute technical activities in accordance with SNC policies, procedures, and work instructions and specific Customer requirements
  • Originate specifications, control documents, verification and validation plans, procedures, reports, and other documentation in support of design and development activities
  • Prepare material for, and conduct, periodic design reviews
  • Execute engineering design and development activities consistent with Customer quality, cost and schedule requirements
  • Participate in design integration incorporating design and industry standards
  • Maintains logs and manuals to document testing and operation of equipment
  • Assemble, test, and maintain circuitry or electronic components according to engineering instructions, technical manuals and knowledge of electronics
  • Responsible for the design and development of units from concept through validation

Education required:
  • Bachelor’s degree an Engineering field and at least 6 years of relevant experience


  • Experience in Hardware document control (WindChill)
  • Experience with Non-conformance dispositioning including Material Review Board (MRB) actions
  • Experience developing test plans and procedures
  • Experience with technical management of suppliers (SOW and specification development)
  • Experience with creating, managing and updating Bill of Materials
  • Knowledge of component and systems level environmental testing, Environmental test experience – Vibration, Shock Tests, Thermal, Humidity, Motion, dust, Water Protection, etc.
  • Familiar with Manufacturing / product development processes (Work Orders, Quality Inspections, and Material Control etc.)
  • Familiar with cable harnesses, connectors and terminating fiber cables.
  • Familiar with networking design (Functional, Preliminary and Final) and Networking equipment (routers, switches, servers, RAIDs etc.) installation experience.
  • General knowledge and understanding of software as it applies to EGSE.
  • Prior experience in the Aerospace and Defense Industry
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance may be required

Physical/Mental/Emotional Requirements:

  • Frequently walk, sit, stand, climb stairs and steps
  • Frequently repeat same hand, arm, and finger motion many times to include finger and hand dexterity
  • Rarely lifting or carrying up to 20 lbs.

Working Conditions:

  • Rarely exposed to outdoor elements (high/low temperatures, sun, rain/snow, etc.)
  • Rarely exposed to fumes or hazardous chemicals/materials
  • Rarely exposed to loud noises
