Mechanical Engineer

Description:
Mechanical Engineer reports to the Engineering Manager and a member of a given integrated product team, the Mechanical Engineer will participate in the development of new aircraft system designs, modifications to existing designs, and new customer introductions.


• Mechanical Engineer is responsible for the design assigned including manufacturability, assembly, and meeting cost and weight targets
• Responsible for Bills of Material,
• Responsible for following up/communicating with purchasing, prototyping, testing, and manufacturing to ensure high quality of design.
• Detail design of mechanical products
• Design for manufacturability and assembly
• The design and detail modeling of a variety of suite components in order to meet the program requirements
• Production detail design and support development
• Delivery of detail design to BOM
• Ability to make trade-offs to yield optimum results, achieving cost, weight, functionality and reliability goals
• Managing and meeting cost and weight targets
• High attention to details in the design
• Communicating effectively and professionally with customers and suppliers
• Participating in Design Reviews throughout each phase of the New Product Introduction process
• The selection and application of materials and processes appropriate to each design element
• Ensuring the successful integration of each design element with the product as a whole
• Following and contributing to the development of the Best Practice guidelines as laid out in Quality documentation
• Checking engineering packages
• Generating and/or revising specifications
• Participating in the validation of the product (using such methods as prototyping, test, DFMEA)
• Detail design of work packages
• Coordinate and consolidate mechanical design from various product sites
• Good communication and leadership skills
• Travel up to 10% both domestically and internationally
• Any other reasonable engineering related duties


• Bachelor's degree in Engineering from a four-year college or university; and three-to-five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• MS Word, Excel and Outlook
• NX 9 (formally Unigraphics) experience
• Siemens TeamCenter9
• Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
• Aircraft interior architecture
• Cabin interior experience
• Effective application of tolerances and GD&T
• Awareness of the certification framework within which the work is undertaken
