Tool & Die Prototype Machinist - CA

Chipton-Ross is seeking a Tool & Die Prototype Machinist located in San Carlos, CA

Performs skilled tasks using various tools to construct, modify, maintain, calibrate, and repair machine shop tools, dies, jigs and fixtures

oSets up all shop equipment including conventional and program machines (like Monarch Tool Room Lathes, and Bridgeport Prototrack CNC controlled mills, center less grinders and other tools)
oPerforms variety of in-process and prototype machining operations
oRepairs and maintains to precision tolerances, special tools, models, punch press dies/sets, jigs & fixtures for all engineering and manufacturing
oFinished all assigned tasks in timely manners and with utmost quality
oPerforms machining, fabrication and inspection of all parts and assemblies using gaging and inspection tools
oMeets all internal and external customers' needs with zero defects
oPrepares well documented notes and data on all completed jobs
oMaintains all safety standards by keeping shop free of hazard and accidents
oResponsible for assembling and disassembling dies, jigs and fixtures
oPerforms Machining & inspections of parts and assemblies duties
oMay perform shearing tasks as needed
oComputes dimensions and other required data to determine machining requirements
oPerforms daily housekeeping duties with readiness to perform
oOwns shop and takes pride in workmanship
oTrains others by transfer of knowledge as directed by Supervisor
oAsk for help and advice from supervisor as needed
oMakes parts with tight tolerances
oAssures tools are placed back after use
oInteracts with manufacturing, peers, and engineering routinely
oInterprets prints, sketches, written, or verbal directives and applies to task assigned
oMay act as lead and backup for supervisor
oNotifies supervisor of any known irregularities or discrepancies
oAssures all PPE guidelines are practiced in daily operations
oEnhances knowledge through all available company's training and resources
oAssures all ISO guidelines and procedures are followed in daily operations

15+ yrs. of hands on shop experience

Hardware Skills:
Precision measuring equipment, tools, dies, jigs Knowledge of all metals & their properties

Software Skills:
Basic computer and data entry skills, SolidWorks, CAM/CAD

Ability to read Mechanical blueprints, must be able to communicate clearly and concisely verbally and in writing across all departments.

Physical Requirements:
75% standing work, 20% using computer, 5% walking

Trade School Diploma, High School/GED
