FBW System Lead Engineer

Description:
Seeking a FBW System Lead Engineer who will be responsible for all activities related to the Fly-By-Wire system for supersonic business jets. In addition to the traditional flight control functions, some unique control development may be required, such as Mach Cutoff System (MCS) integration with the FCS. As FBW System Lead Engineer, you will report to the Flight Control System (FCS) IPT lead.
Duties will include, but are not limited to:
• Develop flight control systems design, architecture and support product plan development, including V&V, qualification and certification plans
• Provide subject matter expert level technical leadership, mentoring and guidance on both practical and theoretical aspects of flight control systems
• Define requirements for the flight control system to ensure compliance with regulations and customer requirements and flight control safety objectives
• Provide validation and verification of flight control system requirements
• Plan and direct flight control systems tests and certification, and provide system and certification documentation
• Lead configuration management of flight control system and software
• Participate in system modeling and simulation
• Interface directly with flight control system suppliers
• Support managing the flight control system scheduling, budget and resources
• Report subsystem status to ensure milestones are met in support of the overall program schedule

Requirements:
• Bachelor’s Degree in relevant engineering area, with a Master’s degree in a technical and/or management specialty preferred
• 15+ years of deep, hands-on experience in fly-by-wire flight control systems development, design and testing in a Military, Commercial, or business aircraft development programs
• 10+ years of demonstrated experience specific to fly-by-wire flight control, hardware and technologies and managing system suppliers as the technical point of contact
• In-depth and current knowledge of Part 25 regulatory requirements, including FBW flight control Special Conditions and flight critical software development (per DO-178C), including Model Based Development, MBD (per DO-331) and system development per ARP4754A and ARP4761
• Experience and expertise in the development of commercial and/or high-end business jets strongly desired
• Must be able to demonstrate a clear understanding, knowledge and ability to define requirements, generate architecture and achieve compliance
• Proven problem-solving skills across multi-disciplinary skill sets
• Ability to read, understand and interpret the results of engineering analyses
• Team leadership, strong decision making and communication skills
• Excellent problem-solving skills across multi-disciplinary skill sets
• Strong customer focus with experience in a global environment working with customers and suppliers
