Description: PDS Tech, Inc. is seeking a candidate for CNC Machine Operator position located in Beltsville, MD.
Responsibilities: • Create complex CNC Programs using Esprit software • Utilize ProE/CAD Models, and engineering drawings for program creation. • Utilize machining background for efficiencies in program creation as well as machining approaches in reducing machining and setup time/cost. Secondary: Machinist • Sets up and operates machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, to make metal / composite parts, mechanisms, tools, or machines to exacting tolerances and dimensions. • Interprets blueprints, sketches/shop drawings, and engineering specifications; determines sequence of operations, number of cuts required, and method of setup. • Uses a variety of machinist’s hand tools and precision measuring instruments; makes standard shop computations relating to dimensions of work, tooling, feeds, and speeds; measures, marks, and scribes dimensions and reference points to lay our stock for machining. Some machines may be numerically controlled (CNC).
Ability to program mills (lathes a plus) by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; offsets, compensation, and conditional switches; calculating requirements, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; proving part programs.
Ability to create, revise and/or update CNC programs to reflect shop, engineering or program changes written in English.
Experience and proven ability to set up, load programs, and operate lathe and mill machines.
Proven ability, extensive experience in machining of large metallic aerospace products.
Monitor feed/speed of machines during operation.
Select appropriate tools, machines, materials to be used in preparation of machinery work.
Maintain specifications by observing drilling, grooving, cutting, including turning, facing, knurling and thread chasing operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls; sharpening and replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes
Machining experience with Titanium a plus.
Conventional machining (lathe and mill work) a plus.
Maintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations
Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs.
Strong analytical and problem solving skills
Ability to interpret Engineering Drawings including knowledge of GD&T

Minimum Education/Experience Requirements:
HS diploma or equivalent; add'l AA degree or technical training preferred.
CNC programming exp. and G-code proficiency preferred
Strong computer skills including MS Office, Esprit CAM
Working knowledge of Vericut software on cutter path verification preferred
