Systems Engineer II

Description:
Under the direction of the Engineering manager, supervisor or lead the Systems Engineer II will support a development and certification program for a new commercial aircraft. The primary function will be to generate systems requirements, system architecture, and proposed placement in the aircraft for the system that will achieve compliance to all applicable regulatory & customer requirements. Specific duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The Systems Engineer II will work with a low level of supervision and must rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals while performing a variety of complex tasks in the following areas:
Has an understanding of the regulatory requirements applicable to the discipline.
The ability and to develop FAA certification plans through guidance from Senior Engineers, DERs and program advisors.
Able to interpret regulatory requirements and determine a method of compliance on a component or a system level.
Able to review, critique and modify test plans to demonstrate that components and systems meet regulatory requirements.
The ability and knowledge to contribute to the generation of pass/fail criteria for system and component level tests.
Can analyze test results against pass/fail criteria and objectively communicate a position to Management, regulatory authorities and customers.
Able to identify problems and suggest solutions to the team.
Has sufficient experience to assist with changes to test systems/equipment, systems or aircraft in the event of an inconclusive or failed test.
Expected to be proactive and define the detail tasks necessary to accomplish task completion with minimal direction.
Can follow schedules and report status on assigned work packages.
Independently develops ideas and solutions to promote the success of the program.
Has strong communication skills and the ability to participate in a team composed of individuals from different countries and cultures.
Able to perform root cause analysis and engage in resolution activities.
Performs other duties as required.

Qualifications & Skills Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in a related engineering field is preferred and a minimum of 5-9 years of experience in Systems or 10+ years of experience in the Aerospace Industry or related field.
Intermediate knowledge of MS Office products.
Basic knowledge of CATIA V5

Physical Requirements: Individual must be able to sit for extended periods of time, working at a desk and/or attending meetings. May occasionally require employee to stand and/or walk and occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Will need to be able to move throughout the office and talk/hear or otherwise communicate with other employees and management. Work will be performed in an office environment.
