Sr. Satellite Payload Engineer

PDS Tech, Inc. is seeking a Sr. Satellite Payload Engineer, in Merritt Island, FL,
 Our client is seeking a Sr. Satellite Payload Engineer to join the Space Systems team in our Merritt Island, FL office. The person will be responsible for integrating a variety of payloads onto the medium size satellites for Intelligence Community (IC) and Department of Defense (DoD) customers. 

Working closely with both the leadership of AIRBUS U.S. Space & Defense, Inc. and stakeholders / program heads from the US Government, Arrow, Airbus and US payload providers this position will be pivotal developing solutions to customer requirements.
The person selected must be able to manage a small team and support the organization to produce results that exceed what would be expected from the team size. When dealing with both customers and partners this person will have to be comfortable being alone.  Growth of the organization is expected and being able to manage a larger team in the future will also be important.

Reporting directly to the CTIO primary responsibilities will include, but not be restricted to
•Manage a small engineering team that designs and supports the integration of US Government payloads onto the Arrow satellite bus
•Development of satellite, satellite to ground, satellite to satellite ICDs for payload providers
•Communicate with US government and industrial partners to interface payloads onto the OneWeb bus
•Support team responsible for writing the technical components of Proposals to the US government agencies
•Support payload testing during integration
•Define and develop payload integration deck for the OneWeb satellite

Additional Responsibilities:
•Research new satellite technologies that apply to the US Government customer base
•Attend technical conferences
•Propose application of new technology for Airbus provided payloads to increase their applicability to the US Government
Qualified Experience / Skills / Training:  

•Bachelor's degree in a STEM field or combination of education and experience
•Master's degree in STEM field, preferred

•12+ years of engineering experience in the space industry
•5+ years of experience designing and/or building satellite payloads
•5+ years of experience focused on integration of payloads onto satellites
•Experience in tailoring an existing payload to operate from a new satellite platform
•Experienced in leading small, high-performance teams
•Experience working with US DoD and Intelligence Community space professionals

Knowledge, Skills, Demonstrated Capabilities:
•Existing relationships with the program offices at Space Missile Systems Center, DARPA and/or NASA
•Ability to build and maintain strategic relationships with key partners and customers
•Ability to work in a team and demonstrate good interpersonal skills
•Extensive knowledge of client/customer test policy and procedures
•Thorough understanding of client/customer payload interface requirements

Communication Skills (Spoken, Written, Influencing, Proficiency in Other Languages):
•Excellent verbal and technical writing skills

Technical Systems Proficiency:
•Experience in relevant software tools including STK or similar modeling program, MatLab and CAD tools.

Travel Required: 
•30-50% Domestic and International

•US citizenship is required

•Ability to obtain and maintain a US Government security clearance mandatory
•Current TS/SCI strongly preferred
