Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The Stress Engineer III will rely on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals while performing a variety of complex tasks in the following areas:
Coordinate with customer to identify all design and stress requirements for a particular product
Evaluate requirements and structural complexity to determine the most effective stress analysis method.
Work with design during conceptual phase to optimize load paths.
Work with IPT throughout joint definition phase to optimize structure for weight, cost, and producbility while maintaining required strength and durability. Continue to optimize structure during release of detailed engineering.
Develop and validate internal loads using classical and finite element (FEM) approaches.
Provide detailed stress analysis of metal and composite structures by classical hand stress calculations and FEM analysis utilizing software such as NASTRAN/PATRAN.
Analyze ability of product to withstand stress imposed by conditions such as temperature, loads, motion, and vibration.
Provide fatigue and damage tolerance analysis as required.
Validate design for optimal material selection and corrosion prevention.
Support production by resolving manufacturing issues including disposition of rejection tags.
