Quality Engineer - Composites

Description:

PURPOSE

To serve as the quality planning engineer to support the transfer of existing products between two facilities.  Actively utilizes the clients ME Global Engineering tool kit to support the realization of products in full compliance with customer and regulatory requirements. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Develop and implement Last Article Inspection plans and First article inspection plans.
  • Support requirement matrix development to define all requirements including customer flow downs, drawing requirements and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop robust inspection plans using SPC and sampling approaches to minimize risk and cost to the business.
  • Support FMEA and risk assessments for product families.
  • Able to interpret drawings, military specifications and have knowledge of GD&T Principles.
  • Lead and/or support supplier audits and supplier corrective action system.  Provide effective communications with suppliers regarding requirements and performance.
  • Develop plans for supplier FAI planning, monitor progress and conduct reviews to ensure compliance.
  • Ensure robust capture and documentation of current inspection methods prior to transfers.  Identify when sample parts are required for transfers.
  • Develops tracking tools to monitor progress and report on status and key metrics to monitor quality planning project performance.
  • Supports 3rd party and regulatory audits including securing special process approvals.
  • Perform and lead such specialized quality functions as contract evaluation and planning; data preparation, analyzes and reporting; development of quality tools, techniques and methods; process improvements; maintenance of accountability and configuration of deliverable products and records; special investigations and audits: material review support; preventive and corrective actions; customer interface, liaison and support; product delivery; and audit of manufacturing and test data for quality system requirements.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Requires a BS degree in engineering or related discipline or ten years of directly related equivalent experience in lieu of engineering degree.
 
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
Five to ten years of experience in quality in an aerospace manufacturing environment. Good interpersonal and leadership skills. Good written, oral communication skills.  Computer literate in statistical software, Excel, Word, Access and PowerPoint.
 
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Frequently required to spend long hours sitting at a work stations and using office equipment. 
  • Frequently required to spend long hours walking and standing on the production floor.
  • May be required to walk or stand for brief periods.
  • May be required to use stairs when elevator is not available.
  • Must occasionally lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move up to 25 pounds of office supplies and materials.
  • May be required to reach with arms and hands and to stoop, kneel or crouch.
