Coordinates with Sourcing, Operations, Design Engineering, the Supply Base and Industry experts to facilitate the design, production, test and qualification of aerospace and defense products. Analyzes technical data, designs, preliminary specifications, manufacturing limitations, supplier facilities, and parts/equipment availability. Investigates and recommends potential suppliers based on assessments of response to specifications, costs, inspection of facilities, and historical performance. Facilitate technical trade-offs and standardization that may lead to more economical procurement. Recommends design changes to mitigate production issues. Leads teams of Supplier and internal staff in collaboratively solving problems in Producibility, Quality, Inspection, Cost, Mistake-Proofing, Test, Reliability and Affordability. The candidate will be a member of the Supplier Quality Engineering Team responsible for assuring the quality and technical performance of deliverables from suppliers for LMSTAR and Training & Simulation Solutions programs based out of MST Orlando. The selected candidate must be a go-getter, willing to proactively tackle whatever it takes and be a team player to solve procurement, supplier related production, Test, Quality, Materials, FAI and Receiving issues. This individual will interface with Manufacturing Ops, MEs, Sourcing, Engineering, Suppliers, Integration/Test and Receiving personnel. Management and Operations. Responsibilities include reviewing and establishing Quality Text Clauses for material PRs/POs, verifying First Articles, Test Results and driving problem resolution. Responsible for basic quality services including: supplier capability and performance evaluations, verification of special processes, part acceptance planning, manufacturing process and quality plan review, defect analysis, timely root cause and corrective action implementation for affected products. Candidate will be required to use analysis to make recommendations on potential source selection decisions based on risk and historical performance. - Bachelors degree from an accredited college in a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education.
- Excellent written & oral communication skills; familiarity with defect analysis and root cause analysis methodologies; familiarity with ISO9001 & AS9100 quality management systems; familiarity with reading engineering drawings per ASME Y14.5; familiarity with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing; Engineering, IEEE Stds., Quality and/or Supply Chain Management discipline related experience.
- Must have ability to obtain a Secret security clearance
Root Cause Analysis; FMEA / Design Qualification and/or FAI experience; Understanding of the Manufacturing Processes; Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment. Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and/or aerospace engineering and production processes preferred.
