Product Improvement Engineer- Avionics

  • The primary work location will be in Nagoya, Japan. However, engineers may be requested to relocate to Seattle or Moses Lake (Washington State, USA) where aircraft flight testing is performed and may also be requested to travel to systems supplier sites.
  • Coordinate development of the Autoland, RNP, HUD, HF and any other Avionics (hereafter referred to as the Avionics).
  • Basic work scope is to lead the development and finalization of the MRJ T/C design, compliant to all applicable requirements (Market needs, FAR25.1309, etc.).
  • The responsible Partner Control will work the activities of the development of the marketability for V&V, ATA23, ATA31, ATA34, ATA42, FAA and EASA. Take in charge of multiple review of the Test Plan draft presented by supplier as a supplier management. Must supervise the test at reviewing which suppliers conduct after the permission of Authority.
  • Any other design activities related to Unit Product Improvement Merchantability Development Group such as Autoland, HUD and so on.
  • Any other activities necessary for the business execution.
  • Work as team in a multi-cultural and an international working environments in Nagoya, Japan. Japanese Language skill is not requred.

This activity includes;
  1. Set up the RFI, Inquiry them to Suppliers, Gather Information of Suppliers up and arrange them.
  2. Set up the RFP, Inquiry them to Suppliers, Gather Proposal of Suppliers up and arrange them.
  3. Set up the RFQ, Inquiry them to Suppliers, Gather Quotation of Suppliers up and arrange them.
  4. Document reports to Product Improvement Partner Control Leader.
  5. Negotiations with suppliers and Agreement.
  6. Evaluating the Supplier’s design, with respect to compliance to Specification.
  7. Identify challenges with critical thinking to recommend corrective actions to the Unit Product Improvement and suppliers, report them and propose improvement of them to the Unit Product Improvement Partner Control Leader.
  8. Carry out the improvement measures that approved by the Unit Product Improvement Partner Control Leader.

  • All tasks required to perform above activities are considered within work scope; initiating/ reviewing related documents, technical calculation, interface discussion with the team members and all the other stakeholders including systems, structures, manufacturing, customer support, and partners.
  • Coach and mentor MITAC members about professional knowledge on the marketability development.
  • Provide expertize to assist in resolving the marketability development.
  • To get the draft of "Technical proposal" and "Commercial proposal" from the selected partner and adjust the contents of those drafts in advance.

e.g. to procure adapted to the conception of business development plan to the selected partner or to get the ROM quotation adapted to the RFQ from the Partner

  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering Technical Aviation with 7 years. aviation related experience, or
  • 7+ years in an aviation engineering organization Aerospace or Aircraft Systems Engineering.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Ability to utilize interpersonal and communication techniques, working in a team environment, dealing with a wide variety of personalities and communication styles.
  • Ability to identify potential issues with machinery development, manufacturing processes or parts.
  • Needs the ability to develop, plan and implement short and long term goal.
  • Ability to adapt to change.


  • 7+ years of experience in the Avionics, as a manager in an aircraft manufacturing or a manager at suppliers (Tier 1). Preferable to have experience in the Autopilot and in depth knowledge in procurement.
  • Demonstrated success in management / negotiation experience in supplier for Aircraft Company, e.g. major suppliers such as Rockwell Collins, Aerospace OEMs, etc.
  • Have created and reviewed relevant documents, e.g. RFI, RFP, RFQ, Agreement, etc.
  • Must be able to work with little supervision, be detail-oriented, flexible in terms of hours and responsibilities as work requires, and able to organize multiple priorities and work deadlines (in accordance with Test Plan/ Authority guideline/ certification)
  • Preferable In depth understanding of program management related to the marketability development good practice.
  • Ability to strategize, plan and execute objectives on-time to quality.
  • Required knowledge: ATA22, ATA23, ATA31, ATA 34, ATA 42, JCAB, FAA and EASA, FAR25.1309
