Description:
A Crash Analysis Engineer opportunity is available to develop Full Scale Crashworthiness Model for the FARA program. Applicants will have the opportunity to influence full system level design based upon their analytical guidance.
The Crash Analysis Engineer is responsible for creation and modification of a detailed non-linear impact & crash dynamics finite element model for FARA aircraft and perform evaluative simulations to guide design.

Position Responsibilities:
• Import complex 3-D solid models from CATIA V4/5/6 platform.
• Perform necessary geometry clean-up and create adequate finite element mesh using Altair Hypermesh and/or other software, for non-linear high-speed impact simulations.
• Perform nonlinear material characterization (impacting object and impacted surface) to capture pre- & post damage behavior using LS DYNA software.
• Develop full aircraft level non-linear crashworthiness model for various landing and crash impact simulations using LS DYNA software.
• Perform trade studies to optimize the design and communicate with other teams.
• Develop presentations/reports of the analytical results and present to management.
• Assist in aircraft level guidance to influence effective low cost/weight design.
• Assist in the development of certification test plan and requirements.
• Work with the other teams to develop Integrated Vehicle solutions for crash safety.

Education Requirements:
• Bachelor of Science or Engineering Degree is required with major preferably in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering.
• Masters or Doctorate degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering is preferred.

Position Requirements:
• Different levels of experience will be considered with at least 10+ years of experience in crashworthy design and analysis is preferred.
• Experience with full aircraft/vehicle level system model development, testing and model validation is preferred.
• 8+ years of experience with CATIA (V 4/5/6), Hypermesh and LS DYNA software is preferred.
• Experience with related software tools such as MSC NASTRAN, MSC PATRAN, MSC ADAMS and ANSYS is preferred.
• Experience in system level structure-to-structure interaction as well as fluid-structure interaction is preferred.
• Analysis skills to accomplish complete aircraft level crash analysis
• Experience with non-linear material calibration and correlation to tests.
• Familiarity with military and industry standards for component level qualification, system level requirements and design, is preferred.
• Experience with the creation of system safety assessments is preferred
• Experience with rotorcraft crashworthiness is preferred
• Ability to communicate efficiently and effectively to coordinate, prioritize tasks, and report status
• Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with customers, as well as horizontal integrations across the other teams
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
• Ability to work effectively within a team utilizing good interpersonal and organization skills
• Ability to obtain Secret Security Clearance preferred
